James Walsh Signs Manuel; Predicting Big Things For Makhonin, Young and More

MMA-fighter manager James Walsh catches up with BritMMA.co.uk, to discuss his roster, which includes the newly signed Chris Manuel, Brad Pickett and Alex Makhonin, what he brings to the table as a manager and much more!

"I'm super excited for Brad," he enthused. "I think 'pound for pound' he is the best UK fighter we have on the big shows. I will say that with no hesitation. So for him to now get on a show that has as many fans as it does, it's massive for Brad. He is so exciting to watch, and the UFC fans that will watch him for the first time will become a Brad Pickett fan right away.

"He deserves every good thing that comes his way; fame, money, the lot! He is one of the nicest guys I know, and even though he was in the biggest show for his weight class, the UFC is the daddy, and I think that Brad will become the first UK UFC champion. It's something that after his last fight, against Jorgensen, he knows himself. He is good enough to fight with the very best. Regardless of the result, he came away with a better attitude and knows his level now. It's there with the best in the world.

"Alex Makhonin is a freak! This guy walks around at 84kg, weighs in on the day of a fight with jeans on, and then beats the very best in the UK who will step up, who have probably walked back in at 90kg. He is just a freak of nature.

"Alex I think will get his shot in the UFC. I would love to see him drop to 170lbs, because one day, weight and size will play a part, but right now, in the UK, and this is no disrespect to anyone, I think with the lack of Wrestling in the division, weight and size doesn't play a part here. People are not using it to their advantage; not like the little guys who weigh in at 66, walk in at about 75 and then grapple. That's handy to have that weight, but at Middleweight in the UK, they all stand up, and Alex has a style that just messes with peoples timing and stuff.
