Jamie Cox unlikely to fight again this year

He is a "Profesional" athlete he has a responsibility to be that. The skills that he has learned throughout the years make his body a lethal weapon which should not be used unless its self defence.

zero tolerance should be the policy on this. when you recieve your boxing licence from the BBBofC it says if you receive a conviction your license can be revoked premaritally, why put that in if they do not go through with it.

if a boxer beat up a member of your family you would feel the same. plus this is not the only incident involving Cox.

 

Why would that lead to a restriction of trade...there is no connection between brawling outside a pub and boxing in a controlled environment...was the punishment doled out by the BBBofC or the judge? seems a bit draconian to me

You don't know the circumstances Rob. Every person has a right to defend themselves. I picked up two assault convictions for defending myself- apparently excessively. One guy I hit once, the other hit me with an ashtray and the reason I was excessive was because I toe-punted him in the ass after i'd floored him.

Had I not hit either guy, both would have hit me. But i'm the criminal apparently.

Usually there is a lot more to any incident of that nature then simply a boxer filling some random in.

 

For brawling outside a pub? No. Your attitude is a bit precious to be honest. Did Button get banned from F1 when he was caught speeding? A car doing 120 is a much more dangerous weapon than Jamie Cox

 

i'm from swindon and have heard that Cox is a bit of a hot head, my mates a policeman and he told me they have been round his house plenty of times.. so in my opinion this is what he needed to get his head together.. shame really as I've been to all his swindon fights and he looked a decent prospect and i was looking forward to following him stepping up a level

but hopefully he can look back in a couple of years and realise that it was just what he needed

 

Having seen 'Con Air' I believe only good can come from this.

 

I have not had a fight since I was 14 years old, the reason for that is because I know how to control my emotions and just be the bigger man and walk away when people are being dicks. If i can do that, so should every profesional boxer.

 

Be the bigger man by walking away, when your careers fighting? It doesn't work like that mate unfortuantely. Pride is a big ingredient in every succesful fighters make up. And you can't just turn that off and on -'like some sort of radio' Apollo Creed.

 

Why would you need to take pride in beating up some random guy when you think you can be a potential world champion??

a real fighter looks to take on a challenge, fight people bigger, stronger and more expirienced than himself.

Imo cox deserves a ban for hitting someone, but only until he has finished his curfew and community service. Ban for life, thats absurd. He hasnt done a margarito or fixed a fight.

Boxing is his job, it pays the bills and puts food on the table. Are you denying him a job just cos he messed up. He should be given a chance, we all make mistakes. Give the lad the benefit of doubt as he will most likely have seen the errors of his ways this time.

 

Ok, if some chavvy scrote who doesn't have a clue who you are takes a pop at you then they get what they deserve. He hardly looks like a fighter Jamie. e had a big arguement with his bird and it kicked off with 2 blokes outside a bar. he's paying a big price now with the fights he's missed out on.
