Dear British Boxing Board of Control I hope this is the correct approach for which to complain about the recent fight between Cox and Sai, if not I ask that you refer me to correct body to which I can file a complaint. This is the first time I send a letter like this and it is a result of pure frustration at the judging and refereeing that occurred during this fight. Not only did the referee of the match fail to react to several (sky commentators claimed the amount reached double digits) very visible low blows that Sai sustained from Cox, the judges seemed to be scoring a completely different match and unjustly gave an undeserved unanimous decision to Cox. This is an outraged. Results like these are the reason professional boxing is considered to be one of the most corrupt sports. That this happened in a match for the Commonwealth championship belt title is extremely provocative at that. Not only does this outcome damage the reputation of the sport it has also damaged the career of Sai who undoubtedly deserved to retain his title and his undefeated record. I hope that you review this fight and review the scores and revoke Cox of his win or at least schedule a rematch on fairer ground.
Why weren't you ****s this galvanized to act on the Bayaar-Edwards "TKO1" farce? (which was about a million times worse than this decision tbh) Where were the letters to the BBBofC then? Right, right - it used to be part of the archaic rules of British boxing that stopping due to cuts from accidental fouls was somehow a "TKO" win for the uncut boxer and not a No Contest....but FFS, that rule was outrageous - and had already been stricken from the rulebooks (but had a long delay in taking effect...finally doing so a mere two weeks later)
Dear BBBofC I am a huge boxing fan but I felt to need to complain tonight after the deplorable judging in the Jaimee Cox V Oberdai Sai bout. The fact that Cox made it to the end of the bout after many blatant low blows all throughout the bout was bad enough but to score the fight in favor of Cox after the two deducted points reeked of corruption. It isn't the first time I have questioned the validity and bias of the officiating in British boxing and feel like it is getting worse. I hope you have the decency to investigate those who were involved in tonights bout and help bring back some credibility to the sport of boxing in our country. sent
Sorry I didn't watch this match and was unaware of the situation. I can't do anything about it at this point and I'm really sorry about this but we can at least try and make ourselves heard about this match right?
I want as a matter of official record for Shinny Bayaar to be 15-4-2 with 1 no contest, and Paul Edwards to be 7-1 with 1 no contest. They could have (and should have) bumped up the rule change two lousy weeks, rather than leave him as the last person to ever be screwed over by that asinine oversight. It hardly would have been unfair to Edwards. Why even have a lapse between deciding to change the rule and having it actually take effect? That is madness! It should have been instantaneous, on the spot, BAM, gone. In fact, by all rights they should go back and alter the records of any participants in matches that ever ended in such a way under British rules (but of course that wouldn't be even remotely workable in reality). ****ing bureaucrats.
Here's my effort: Dear BBBofC I’m emailing to express my disgust with the judging and refereeing in the recent Cox v Sai fight for the Commonwealth Title. Over my years as a boxing fan I’ve come to expect a degree of bias on the part of officials towards the home fighter, but even by boxing’s own poor standard this match was simply shameful. Cox hit the Ghanaian below the belt innumerable times which should have seen him disqualified, only for the referee to show incredible leniency which strayed into a total disregard for the travelling fighter. The paltry two points that were deducted from Cox for this shameful and flagrant breach of the rules were not enough to deter the judges however, who equally absurdly awarded Cox a comfortable unanimously decision despite most observers having Sai ahead. The decision was read out to rounds of booing from the crowd and boxing’s own troubled reputation sank a little lower that night. I would like to see some sort of redress given to the fighter who lost his belt, unbeaten record and who knows how many future pay days through frankly abysmal adjudicating. Perhaps some reprimand for the referee and officials at ringside and the ordering of a rematch would be a start. Regards,
I'm sending an e-mail too, the ref needs seeing too as well! He saw blatant low blows and did nothing, he almost spread out the two deductions so he had no time to DQ!!! I complained about the Bayaar - Edwards 'TKO' match too, he got jobbed twice after the Sexton fight! If the fight is close, the home/prospect fighter nearly always gets the nod! Surely the BBBC must notice this!! Even in undercard fights this must be addressed, like that Dallas fight etc
sent one, it's made me feel a bit better to know I've not just sat on my arse and done nothing I suppose. I am writing to undoubtedly add to the numerous complaints you have received regarding this evening's Commonwealth title fight between Obodai Sai and Jamie Cox. Jamie Cox clearly should have been disquailifed for consistent low-blows, and arguably lost the fight on points regardless. As an indication of the injustice, a large portion of the crowd at the charity event booed the at the reading of the scorecards. For the result is so obvious to the layman to be so widely misjudged by the referee and judges is hard to fathom, and leaves quite a cynical afterthought. I recall watching a feature on Sky Sports' Ringside programme this past week, where we were told boxing teaches discipline and puts young people on the right path. I would say that any youngster watching the fight this evening might draw the conclusion that an honest way is a losing way, and that cheats prosper. At a time when the sport is seemingly at it's lowest ebb, these events appear to be becoming more and more common in British rings, and is clearly contributing in a negative manner. I am not so naive as to expect that will be the case, but I would hope, as a long time fan and viewer of boxing, that a rematch is ordered and a "wrong" is "righted", and those responsible, whether through incompetence or corruption, be disciplined accordingly.
I've been away, just came back and stuck this on tonight and what a ****ing joke..... email sent also.
Shocking cards from the judges. Didn't realise Stevie Wonder, David Blunket and Andrea Bocceli were scoring the fight? Total disgrace, words can't comprehend the disappointment.
Just watched this again on the sky replay - the low blows were real shockers. Then for Cox to come out after the fight and say 'it depends what you call low' is an insult, they were low, again and again. Then for one of the cards to read 115-112 is beyond a joke. A disgusting night for British boxing all round.
