Been to see Jamie this evening. Hopefully this will shed a bit of light on the story of the Sanders switch. http://www.secondsout.com/news/main-news/jamie-mcdonnell-plays-down-sanders-reports
More confusion it seems. I can see both sides to the idea of moving, on the one hand he's done very well where he is and is settled, on the other it's clear that he needs to make a few adjustments in order to go any further and be successful. I'll be honest, I never thought he'd get as far as he has done, beating the best in Britain and Europe, but he needs a few ''bridging'' fights before attempting to win a genuine world title. The gap between Euro class and World class at the lower weights is massive, compared to 175 and up where it's barely noticeable.
It was a bit of a weird one cos McDonnell has come along a lot in the last two years. Like Beeston says, if he's serious about world titles then he needs those fights that are above European level but not quite world level. Get a few tough Mexicans over and see how he does.
