Yes politics all round with any sanctioning body it's fair to say who hold's the belt does have a fair amount of sway. His real fight looks like happening outside of the ring messy & complicated.
"Shocking the World" i think you are going a bit over the top here. he was facing a Mexican kid in a vacant title fight which was a close fight, he wasn't fighting a champion and he wasn't an underdog. Shame it wasn't on Sky or Boxnation live i do agree with that. He has been unfairly treated here though, but maybe he can now fight one of the Japanese Champions and win a title the right way, I've heard in a few interviews that he didn't really feel like a real Champion because he won a vacant title and didn't beat a champion for the belt.
To hs credit Hearn seems to have a decent relationship with the IBF with all the Brook fiasco and managing to keep him as the mandatory challenger and all that so hopefully he'll get it overturned
this is all news to me. i never even knew he split with Hobson. but now he's been stripped as well!? boxing is a messed up sport. feel bad for him because i like Jamie.
Quote: Statement from Dennis Hobson Promotions regarding Jamie McDonnell being stripped of his IBF Bantamweight World Title "We understand that the IBF have vacated Jamie McDonnell's title as Bantamweight Champion because he failed to comply with a Resolution of the IBF Board of Directors. "It is sad that Jamie McDonnell has been stripped of his World Title, especially when, in partnership with Dennis Hobson Promotions, he was able to achieve his boxing ambitions and become world champion at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster on 11 May 2013. It was a fabulous night for Jamie, for his team, and for British boxing, and we were particularly pleased when Jamie was gracious enough to say that he would not have become world champion without the team at Dennis Hobson Promotions. "Unfortunately, in recent weeks Jamie has allowed third parties to influence him, to advise him and to make representations on his behalf without any reference to us. This is in clear contravention of the contractual relationship he has with Dennis Hobson Promotions. The consequences of such unauthorised influence, advice and representations by these third parties have obviously, with today's news, been catastrophic for Jamie." No further comment will be made by Dennis Hobson Promotions at this juncture.
Two sides to a story and all that, but it does have the appearance of looking like utter disloyalty on the part of the fighter. Oh, and combined with the possibility that another promoter has incited him to break his contract.
As for him getting stripped... well if he didn't comply with the mandatory requirements then the IBF are within their rights. It doesn't matter what other fighters have got away with in terms of not doing a mandatory for a long time. If you don't follow the IBF rules, you can't really complain if you get stripped.
The above means we are finally get the other side of the story. People have been very quick to slag off Hobson and the IBF. Rumour is McDonnell was offered dates & opponents but turned them down because people close to him thought they could be clever by exploiting the 3 month negoitiating period given for an extension of a contract, after winning a title. The sad thing about all of this is some close to McDonnell will get their way, as he will be allowed to box on other shows and will be able to take on another manager. Due to the complexities of sporting contracts in particular boxing ones, it seems McDonnell will cite irreconciable differences and that will allow him the move. It will come at a cost he will have to compensate his previous promoter and manager with a percentage of his future purses, possibly both parties legal costs and what they probably did not expect was the loss of the world title if something cannot be sorted. "The grass is not alway greener on the other side"
