He's the IBF world featherweight champion but even some hardcore boxing fan's don't know who he is. Beat Julio Ceja who was regarded as one of the best prospects in boxing, in a very good performance. Casual boxing fans ASSUME that every world champion gains a massive high profile when they win a world title and become rich, but this is again proof it's not the case.. there's a lot of politics to do with it... what promoter your with, what TV channel you're on, where your from, etc even race and religion comes into it sometimes, some fighters like mcdonnell are just branded unfashionable. Anyway he should be a much bigger name than he is that's all I'm saying

Yeah I totally agree with you. I think Eddie Hearn will sign him. I watched one of Kugans interviews with him a couple weeks ago and I thought he was hinting at this. The same goes with Ola Afolabi. He's a 3 time world title challenger, yet nobody knows him.

I'm surprised at the lack of attention his win over Ceja got. I mean, it's not like Ceja was a chump. 24 wins, 22 KO and 0 defeats. He had a very impressive record and was a great prospect who was completely nullified by McDonnell.

I voted him as out most underrated fighter.

    Hopefully Hearn will sign him.

I think it highlight's the difference a good promotions and managerial team can make.

It really is a sin that McDonnell flyes so far under the radar, Sky should have shown that fight they had shown everything up to that point and then not show the big one!

I can see Hobson doing a deal with Hearn to show McDonnell in the near future like Coldwell has right now.

Will Hearn sign him? I doubt it short term as he likely is still under contract.

  14. Shows what you know then. This is the man who promoted hatton in America for fights with castillo and collazo and also fights with urango and maussa,he helped put him into the position to fight mayweather and promoted Clinton woods throughout his career including Roy jones and glen Johnson.
He took a loss knowing that home advantage would be so important.now the sky's the limit whereas a loss probaly meant back to European level.

McDonnells world title challange shows the biggest problem with Skys exclusive deal with Matchroom.

McDonnells manager put on a good show and invested lost of money to bring the fight to the uk but could not get a good tv deal.
