Junior middleweight: The tragic death of Vernon Forrest (No. 2 last week) on Saturday and the inactivity of Daniel Santos (No. 8 last week) created two openings at 154 pounds. Santos hasn’t fought since July 11 of last year.

Thus, everyone rated Nos. 3 through 7 last week climb one rung each. Kermit Cintron also jumps from No. 10 to No. 7. New at No. 8 is Deandre Latimore, while Jamie Moore debuts at No. 10.

“Among the new entries at 154, Deandre Latimore was given a higher spot based on the fact that in his most-recent fight he lost a close, split decision to THE RING’s No. 2 contender, Cory Spinks.

James Kirland remains at No. 9 pending his sentencing for violating his conditions of probation by carrying a gun. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 23.

“Even though he is incarcerated, THE RING is waiting for James Kirkland to be sentenced for his felony conviction before possibly removing him from the rating,” Collins said. “Most likely, Kirkland’s sentence will be a lengthy one, but we do not want to make a premature move based on an assumption.”

Long overdue this is!! I would like to see him in with Santos to see if he could handle him!! I think Moore is world class and will definitly win a world title!! I just feel he needs the right push from the right people..:good

  5. Yeah I agree it's about time.

Hopefully now he will be considered for a world title shot.

Hopefully he's in the spot Froch was in a while back where you have to just bide your time for a shot

He's looked world class lately, he looks ready

I dont understand why Moore does not get more coverage - he is a quality fighter, exciting and seems like a really decent guy. He is far more deserving of coverage than some other overhyped fighters in this country:deal

Jamie would you mind fighting Daniel Santos for the WBA belt or is the WBC the one you want?

Is he really going to be picking and choosing his title? :p

I think you take whatever you get as a dangerous fighter that isn't hugely known by some of these guys.

So is a world title shot still a realistic possibility for your next fight?
