There was a short window where he was definitely world class but the weight killed him in the Rhodes fight, obvious from the first bell He would have to move up and then it's a whole other ball game Whatever he does I hope he has every success. Very very exciting fighter and top fella to boot. Staying retired is the obvious sensible choice but if he has the itch it's up to him whether he scratches it
Sounds like a nice bloke, true warrior in the ring and I bet (like many) he misses the adrenalin buzz of the game. BUT, always put medical advice first, and if the docs are saying "no way", it means "no way". I like him as a pundit, stay that way Jamie and don't do something you might well regret.
I remember a lot saying the same about Derry Mathews when he was first rumoured to be coming out of retirement and look whats happened there. Granted, Moore retired on doctors advice and would have to be absolutely sure he was in good enough health to get back into the ring. But maybe he's seen the likes of Mathews launch a successful come back and fancies giving it another go. I guess it's a decision only he can make, with the advice of his family and doctors.
The end part he talks about wanting to go into PF. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSuUA73hzmU[/ame]
Great lad and top boxer but I wouldn't want to see Jamie back in the ring again. He has been in some classic wars and did very well for himself. He never got that world title chance but I can't see him getting to that level again so I don't see what he has to prove. Didn't he retire due to some abnormal brain scan or something, its not worth risking your life over a love of the sport and Jamie can contribute in other ways as he is a good media pundit and I'm sure plenty of gyms would love to have him in their coaching staff.
I really hope he doesn't go through with this but as skills said earlier in the thread If you seen him training with (insert name) on Ringside It's not surprising It's something that most fighters can't walk away from sadly. The one thing I don't want see is Jamie get out classed or sparked out by some no name journey man.
If its something he wants to do - let him do it. He's got a lasting legacy as a fantastic talented British euro champion, who was on the very fringes of claiming a title. That's not going to change. You've got to be given every opportunity to fulfill your dreams. As long as he's safe to do so I say go for it Jamie. Herol graham, Jason cook, and countless others will agree.
If you judge by join dates everyones new. Im here a lot longer than you, real posters get banned :deal
I really enjoyed watching Jamie Moore fight, he was undoubtedly one of the biggest talents in this country for a while, and was very rarely in a poor fight. I don't know enough about the real reasons behind his decision to retire from the sport to make a qualified decision; but all I would say is that if there is genuine medical evidence to support him not fighting he has to listen to it. I enjoy watching him as a pundit and find him to be a natural in front of the camera, he makes good sound analysis, he is relaxed and his sense of humour comes across also, which is something alot of ex/current fighters struggle with! The recent segments on Ringside where he trained with various coaches/trainers were interesting, and as someone else has already mentioned he definitely seemed to miss the feel of the fight game. I understand he has a long standing relationship (no homo) with Ricky Hatton, maybe there is a future for him there some how? Bottom line is this, if he is medically fit to fight why not? He has nothing else to prove IMO, yet he could probably still make a mark on the domestic scene at the very least. If medical complications are confirmed as the main reason as to why he originally walked away from the game, he must stay away, however hard it is, he is still young and undoubtedly has alot left to give in another way.:bbb
It was over 2 years ago now, forgive my ignorance as I know there was an issue with a brain scan and he was recommended to stop fighting, but if the abnormalities were down to constant hits to the head doesnt the brain heal over time? Great fighter to watch, if he come's back good luck to him but if there are still questions around the scan then please dont come back!
