He wants something better than a Paul Samuels IMO. I'd stick him in with the best fighter available to him - whoever that might be. No point looking at domestic level opponents, he's had enough of them already..... this will be his last chance - best get on with it.
He needs a bigger test than Samuels... Right now, I would say he is in between British and European level - throw him in with someone like Konecny first. He is a good Euro level fighter, and I don't see him 'sparking' Moore out.
Rob, with all due respect piccirillo was highly ranked at the time and coming off a points loss to Vernon Forrest, so although he was older than aisikainen they were similar in that respect. He was also a former 'world' champion. Whoever said i made excuses needs to look back at the tape...i said the better man won. If anyone knew what i had to go through to make the weight you would understand that you can't possibly perform at your best, but if i did i would be told by everyone i was making excuses. But when macklin says he struggled at the weight with me, it's ok. And just for the record, i've never been 'sparked' in my life. Been down and hurt, but never sparked. So behave yourself. By the way, this is Mooresy, couldn't log in off my new laptop so had to re register. I've also commented on my thoughts on barker on another thread.:good
What excuses? He said he was weight drained (which he was) but that "the better man won" during the ringside interview straight after the fight Watch this clip and you can hear he doesn't want to use the weight as an excuse [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUgGbgOxe1s&feature=SeriesPlayList&p=0CACF037414C66ED[/ame] Personally, i am a big fan of Jamie Moore. The guy is a warrior who is always in entertaining fights. He tried to take the proper route to a world title (British, Commonwealth, European) and was dicked around by the EBU for it. Moore vs Macklin II is a fight any boxing fan would love to see. While i agree that maybe Macklin has bigger fish to fry at the minute, if he wants to try and avenge that loss on his record then Jamie is back at European level again at Middleweight and the Rhodes loss won't seem such a setback
Thanks pal, but to be honest it wasn't really the EBU that messed me about, more Baysangurov, and also shoulder injuries have hampered me for a few years. Also i understand that at this moment in time Mat has bigger fish to fry, but at the time i fought him so did i (i'd been british champion 3 and a half years and was advised to relinquish and move on) but still fought him knowing that it was gonna be a really hard fight and could stall my progression. I've always took hard fights when i didn't have to but that's what we're supposed to do, fight. Maybe someone will return the favour and fight me now even though they don't have to. I won't hold my breathe though.:good
Hiya mate yes it's me just bobbin's on computers!! Aiming on fighting mid to end of march, don't know who but not really bothered, at this stage of my career i can't afford to **** about.:good
Moore's loss to Rhodes shouldn't really change anything. It's just a blip in his record. He lost to a tough fighter in a tough fight. He made no excuses. Even at middleweight Moore has the ability to give any top 10 fighter out there a real tough time. If he feels better at the weight we could even see an improvement on his recent form (which was excellent coming into the Rhodes fight). I've no doubt he will remain focused and the opportunities will come again soon.
I think most people feel you deserve a shot. Some people are swayed by the 4 but the DQ pads that out. I would have thought Barker could be a possibility as he needs to step up his level of opponents. I would see that as a bloody good fight. Certainly a tough fight for you, but as you've already said you've always taken tough fights. It pisses me off that when you have a few losses on your record people overlook you. In some ways MMA people have a better attitude where thay say, 'if you have the 0 your fighting the wrong people!' You deserve your shot mate and I hope you get it! My mate posts on here sometimes under name 'spitbucket'. He's a big fan of yours and has seen you fight many times.
Nice one mate.. I can understand your desperate to get straight back in there look forward to seeing you smashing some heads during 2010
I hope so mate, no one deserves a break more than you. Is Macklin a fight you are looking to make now then (after he's fought pirog)? Top man for coming on here and chatting with us by the way Jamie :good
Cheers zilla, yes the macklin fight is up there with em but to be honest they'd hav to pay us right to do that again coz none of us got paid enough to go through what we did. Me an Mat have spoke about about fighting again and both agreed we'd do it if the money was right. I'll fight anyone who will put me right back up there straight away. I'd love someone like Manfredo or Duddy so it would make waves over the water, but i think they like fighting people who are 'safe', especially Duddy, so can't see them happening. :good
