move to middle has to happen.would love to see him or macklin in with barker and since macklin has moved on to euro level barker fighting moore would be the realistic fight
This is what I said previously. He needs a warm up first. I cannot see Hatton promotions putting Martin Murray in with Jamie Moore when they are building him very slowly. Be a dumb move from them. Jamie himself said that Barker is a step down from where he is at, I was saying that Duddy and Murray are even further steps down.
I wouldnt go that far. Its was a real battle and Rhodes had gone all out to stop Moore in the early part of the round, gave Moore than chance to come back. If the ref had stopped Rhodes it would of been a terrible call as Moore had been in 5x more trouble a minute earliar.
Yeah, he might be stronger, but you have to counter that with quality of opponent he will get at middleweight and whether his improvement from having more 'gas in the tank' will offset fighting guys with more power and physical presence. This is something that must have crossed Jamie's mind himself otherwise he would have moved up a long time ago. Look at Rhodes, getting stopped by that average guy at middle but being durable at light-middle. I said it before on a previous thread but even though Moore lost, I thought he looked a level above Rhodes, so I would give him a better chance of making waves at the higher weight than someone like Rhodes.
I know the idea is obviously not to lose, but when it's a close fight like Moore v Rhodes, it's doesn't have to be the end of the world to lose. There are countless fighters out there over the years who've had 5, 6, 7 losses on their records and who we regard as great fighters. The Rhodes fight wasn't a one round blow out or anything, he just ran out of gas. I'm a big believer in Jamie. I think he'll really benefit from the move up if he takes his strength up with him.
I can understand how you think that but the fact is that Moore was bossing the fight for 5.5 of the 7 rounds. I was ringside and he looked in peak condition...Rhodes caught him in the 7th and Jamie went down in stages, a knockdown that I thought was going to end the fight but he got back up and came on very strong indeed until Rhodes caught him again. Getting up from the first very heavy KD does not suggest to me that he was drained, he may have struggled to make the weight but that is something completely different.
Moore caught Rhodes 30 seconds before Ryan finished him and I honestly thought he was going, he more than stunned him...not on ***** street but only one punch away.
I'm afraid i'm gonna have to disagree. I know the punch you're referring to - I've just watched the last round again, (for the umpteenth time, can't get enough of that fight), but I think although he was hurt he was never in any danger of being stopped. Although I have a habit of being in the minority so I suppose I could just be a bit blind.
