Jessie Vargas wanted the fight badly, but Munguia turned it down. Now he's going to 160 where he's gonna get slaughtered.
The idea of moving up is OK by itself. He is clearly a big dude and punishing himself to make weight wont benefit him. Munguia will likely enjoy a size advantage at Middleweight as well. The problem is his opposition. He just lost to Hogan and looked like doo doo vs Inoue. They need to take a step back and rework the gameplan. Munguia has a lot to learn and he has the time to do so. Of course they can just keep going the way he has and take the inevitable L. Maybe then Munguia and his camp will up their game.
Munguia doesn't look that big. I believe that he will be dwarfed at 160. He looks smaller than Lara and Charlo.
what exactly would a win over vargas do for him? theres more of everything up at 160, and who knows, maybe erik turns this kid into a complete fighter.
He is only 22 and 6ft tall. Not to mention the fact that on fight night he weighed 175lb against Smith. (Not the only time Munguia's fight night weight has been around 175) Munguia will easily fill out 160lbs and he will likely end up at 168lbs. I would say that he will definitely end up at 168.
