Looks like the card is just coming together but Welliver has his match set up. WBO African Cruiserweight Champ Moyoyo Mensah.

Boxrec says it is again an interim WBO APAC HW Title defense. That full title is, of course, held by Monte Barrett now and Tua previously. Again Welliver has to settle for less than a shot at the full WBO APAC Championship. He's been waiting since he became interim champion in November of 2009. This will be his 4th defense while waiting around, besides all his other WBC title fights. All you can do is all you can do.

I predict a pretty decent scrap and have been assured by many a NZ trainer that Moyoyo comes to fight. He's got a little reputation for fighting flagrantly but at least he is a scrappy and hungry type of challenger. I think Welliver will win a very crowd pleasing fight by either stopping him late or by getting a UD and shutting him out late. It will probably take some good 2 way action early for Mensah to figure out that he is not going to out gun Welliver in output and is not going to move Welliver to do more than shake his head at him in defiance when he lands clean. If he makes it past the first 4 or 5 rounds, I predict Mensah will become less and less willing to trade.

I hope this damn Barrett and Tua thing gets sorted soon after this fight. Welliver and Tua would make a damn good eliminator in NZ. WBO and WBC straps could be up for that and winner would be sitting pretty. :bbb

 

For those of you not familiar with the David Tua fan website DavidTua.net there is their shout out. A bunch of ornery old trainers and cut throat conspiracy theorists, a bunch of nuthuggers as well. Anyways, I posted a ficticious interview with Tua over there today and I figured I'd drop it here so someone gets a chance to read it. So here it is.

If you guys want me to call out Tua or Cameron I need some help. Maybe we can record some conversations like The Jerky Boys. Money, Shamrock and Diego can do teleconference calls to Tua and Cameron. We can use the cover story of it being official ESB business. And then I will rock his world with the interview.

Money...Hello David, thank you very much for joining us for this interview, before we get started covering what is next for you, I'd like your opinion on an upcoming NZ HW fight, if you don't mind.

Tua....hey, no problem, what fight are you talking about?

Money....The Chauncy Welliver vs Moyoyo Mensah fight. What do you think about this fight being for the NZ HW Title and the interim WBO APAC title, both of these are titles you are interested in, right?

Tua....Oh no, I'm interested in the full WBO APAC HW Title and also in recapturing the WBO Oriental HW Title against Monte Barrett. The interim title is nothing to me and the NZ HW Title is not tied to a ranking organization.

Money...When the man wearing the NZ HW Title is also the WBC #6 ranked HW and the WBO #11 ranked HW, doesn't that kind of tie that title into some organizations?

Tua...I don't really pay attention to letters in boxing, to be honest. All I know is that the WBO is Owesome.

Money....Speaking of Wheel Of Fortune, the rumors are flying around that you've either landed on bankrupt or lose a turn, which is it?

Tua....Who told you that? I landed on the Berlin Germany trip, but I'm still thinking of a letter to help solve the puzzle. It's kinda hard as the O is already taken. K_ i _ _ _ _ko.

Money....The internet told me Dave. The same internet also has been telling me that in between your fights with Monte Barrett that you have ducked Welliver once and Barrett has ducked him twice.

Tua....I never ducked Welliver, I never wanted to fight him in the 1st place, who is this fella named Internet?

Money....The internet is a world wide spy Dave. Most everything that happens in the world, the internet knows about. He knows all about how Inga offered Chauncy chickens feed to fight you in the Backyard Brawl. And he also knows that Chauncy accepted that fight but was never even called back. He also knows about Monte ducking on the Holyfield undercard in favor of Charles Davis and that he ducked this match that Moyoyo Mensah took

Tua....Well, I don't want to say anything more on that, Mr. Internet may be listening. I don't want this guy telling my fans that I am broke and scared of Chauncy.

Money...Too late Dave. He's already told everybody. Now that you know that though, do you want to know what the internet says about how you can redeem yourself?

Tua.....If he knows everything and has some advice for me, I definitely want it.

Money....The internet says you need to revenge your defeats to Barrett, and then immediately sign up to face Welliver in an APAC showdown for all of the marbles in the WBO, WBC, and New Zealand.

Tua.....Wait, wait, wait, hold up. What does Mr. internet mean by immediately?

Money....The internet says that you need to fight him within 3 months of beating Barrett.

Tua.....Now I know you are lying to me Money. If Mr. internet knows everything, he knows that there is no way I will fight twice in 3 months.

Money....Don't confuse the ghost of the internets past or the ghost of the internets present with the ghost of the internets future. They do not have to be one in the same. The key to unlock the door of change is within yourself. But if nothing changes, nothing changes. The internet has warned you Ebenezer Tua.

Tua.....Please Money, tell Mr. Internet that I am sorry. I will do anything to avoid nothing changing in my life. Tell him I will train hard and beat Monte Barrett and that I will go right back into training afterwards to fight Chauncy Welliver. Tell Mr. Internet that I will do my best to put great fights on for my public in New Zealand and that I would like him to tell everyone around the world that I have changed my ways. Coming from a Monte Barrett who could not win a fight for 4 years before Tua happened to come to the ring in even worse shape than him? Dude got his jaw busted for his troubles and yet again, I repeat, yet again tasted another version of the canvas sandwich.

Welliver takes out every HW in NZ or OZ. There is not a big enough puncher in the region to knock him down for the 1st time ever. And there is not a HW in good enough shape to throw enough punches to win a decision over him down that way either.

Isn't Monte Barrett supposed to be the new WWE tag team partner to Hornswaggle?

 

What can you do when the APAC Champions won't fight you for over 2 years? Gotta keep winning and keep talking until somebody gives out the opportunity.

You would think that 1 of the only guys in the world, 7 or 8 of them at most, who is ranked Top 10 to both Klitschko Borthers, could get a damn fight. Everybody wants a Klitschko fight but none of them want to fight to get a Klitschko fight.

WBC #1 Arreola...did not earn it. WBA #1 Rahman...did not earn it. IBF #1 Thompson...did not earn it and the walkover was BS to all HW's who want to fight.

Chauncy Welliver will fight any 1 of those 3 for those positions right frigging now. They hold on to those like they earned them and they are scared to frigging fight. These damn ranked HW's need to step up and do something other than sitting on their BS rankings.

Chauncy gives out at least 6 shots a year to all his titles and rankings...it's time to get a shot.

 

They got the opportunity to do so. None of them have as many title defenses though or are close in activity. Maybe they deserve to be ranked a bit ahead of Chauncy but not at #1. Chauncy sits at #6 and he didn't get a chance to face Arreola for that #1. None of them faced a ranked challenger to do that...unless you call Thompsons win and the Chambers pull out a legit thing...I don't. But that is IBF BS there. Whatever.

Point is, guys are all wanting those spots and getting those spots but are not willing to fight guys below them. Other ranked guys are fighting unranked guys rather than Chauncy or other ranked guys. Chauncy is looking to fight these dudes who keep sitting and stalling out the division. Bring em on!
