I just took a peek at a couple of other boxing sites I used to post at and and seriously, I've seen two people who thought that fight was a blowout for Berto and both are posting in this thread.

I'd agree that Berto is in exciting fights more often than not, but his holding is pretty damn annoying. Berto-Ortiz was entertaining, but most of the fight after the sixth round was ugly due in no small part to Berto's holding. It sure seemed like we might be in for another grind after the fifth tonight.

You could slowly see Berto breaking him down with body shots, and shots landing between the gloves. You guys saw Berto get hit with a few uppercuts and thought Zaveck was in the fight. Sorry, I missed that part. Berto has some things to work on though, but that first win back is always good.

It wasn't a blow out, but Berto was winning handily.

OK, both eyes were cut, the right one was obviously worse. But both cuts were very low, on his eyelids, not on the brows!? Seems a bit strange to me. Maybe Bert's gloves and/or handwraps weren't 100% legit.

my channel showed the replay and it looked like some head butts in there for sure. berto fought very intelligently with his head. ref was either paid off or blind.

How was he breaking Zaveck down with body shots?

Was Zaveck landing less in, say, the 5th round than he was in the 1st? I would submit that he was landing more frequently as the bout went on.

When you are finding the mark with greater frequency, that is not typically the mark of a fading fighter or a fighter being "broken down."

I think everyone here is being bamboozled. I refuse to believe anyone thought that was a dominant performance by Berto.

i can see why people r pissed off. but, this is boxing. u got to protect yourself at all times. jan fought a dumb fight, plain and simple. berto outmuscled him and took some pages from the bernard hopkins school in philly with his head butts in there

I said he was breaking him down with body shots and shots between the gloves.

And, again, I ask you by what metric did you arrive at this conclusion?

Was Zaveck either less active or effective as the bout wore on?

To me, that's what I observe when I consider whether a fighter is being "broken down" by body shots.

Can't say I like Berto but I gotta admit he's one crazy entertaining boxer.

    what a *****!

Bet Berto will go for Shane next, big name ranked shot fighter. maybe even Bailey, Malignalli, Lujuan.

Nice easy title for khan next year, not impressed with Berto at all. he will never be within the elite fighters of the division, even Kell brook may be able to get in there and yes I'm british before anyone says anything.
