Ortiz and Berto aren't really in different leagues in raw power.

Zaveck is slow as ****, but his standout qualities will really make this difficult for Ortiz. He's patient and gets better as the fight goes along (more of a Margarito type), whereas Ortiz is kind of a front-runner who has to lapse and then catch a second wind to be effective down the stretch. He has an IRON chin, and Ortiz isn't going to land anything more harmful than what Berto managed on him. No way is Ortiz knocking him out. It's a question of whether Ortiz can a) bank enough early rounds with superior activity (and possibly win a couple of late ones on his second wind) and b) avoid getting dropped & stopped before it even gets to the cards.

Zaveck is a good fighter. He has heart. A Berto rematch fight is 50-50. I pick Zaveck UD or Berto lucky KO or Stoppage. Ortiz is a tossup where I pick Ortiz but have pride in Zejan.

I see what you mean. I am thinking Ortiz-Zaveck is a war where in the late rounds Zaveck holds up a wins a close UD or TKO when Ortiz is gassed. Hope Zaveck's face holds up thats all. And doesn't gas but I doubt it.

IB, you seem to hate a little on Ortiz, just sayin'.

Zavack is too slow for Victor IMO, at the most I see him scoring a flash knockdown but then systematically getting broken down. Vic has the better speed, power and footwork, I see him successfully moving around the ring, not giving Zaveck a target and tagging him on the way in/at counter-punching opportunities.

The Floyd fight is too short to look at it from Ortiz' standpoint, Mayweather seemingly started to get more dominant, yet Vic's best moment came right before the incident, at that point it looked like Floyd is in for a dangerous domination.

At 160ish with good speed and mobility retained, I say Ortiz is just too much for Zaveck and stops him around the 8th.

Zaveck tries hard, but nowhere near hard enough to bother Ortiz or Berto. Like I said in the Berto fight, the only success Jan has is on the inside because Berto has no inside fighting ability.
