He consitently argues that Patterson was ahead against Ali in their 1972 contest when he's been told about 10 times what the scores were. Even one time when he did it, I corrected him and then even stated that he'd do it again. Which he did (last week). :yep

    Sad but true.

Reminds me of all the stories that came from a certain place *cough* America *cough* that Lewis was "knocked out cold" by Jeremy Williams while film shows that he was judo-thrown down because Lewis kept dominating him with combinations in front of the press.

This is why i don't trust any of those stories about old-timers. People wrote stories full of **** back then because the film wasn't available for 99,999% of the people or at funny speed, so why not describe a 37 year old 15 pounds overweight horrible boxer as a muscled, cut super-athlete in peak condition who would take a sledge hammer on the chin for $30? (a poster actually seriously believed this:nut). Of course when the film is watched, an entirely different reality becomes apparant.

I understand that Lewis has been knocked out by the world and his wife in sparring.

Things stranger than fiction do happen in sparring from time to time however. In this particular case I hope that I might be able to locate a source.

If you don't even have the source what possessed you to make the claim mate? Not trying to ride ya, but man that's a big statement to make based on absolutely zero, or so it seems. Did someone else make the claim, and you keep repeating it because you like the idea of small man ko'ing big man and fits your general fancy?

    :huh

What difference does it make? The important thing is that the guy performed well in the ring, which is when a fighter needs to. Lot's of guys get floored or dropped or hurt in sparring.

"If I can find the source".

I think Janitor will say he emailed Witherspoon and this was Tim's reply. It'll be a few typed lines on word saying:

    Dear Janitor,

Following on form your e-mail I have to answer that you are indeed correct and, yes, some guy, whose names escapes me, did knock me the **** out before the Super Greg Page fight. He must have been only, oooohh, 155 Ib when he was soaking wet.

    Yours faithfully,

    Terrible Tim Witherspoon.

ps. Your friends at ESB don't no nuthin'. Those little guys hit much harder than Bonecrusher. You can tell them that from the me.

Another thing I believe Tim would ad to that letter is:

I would also like to address the fact, that any middleweight, welterweight, lightweight or featherweight, who fought prior to 1950, would have knocked the livin' **** out of me to. Both my WBC and WBA belts in the 80's were fake titles, and my best opponents were absolute crap in contrast to any fighter who fought in the first half of the century. Hell, I think Jack Roper would have kicked the crap out of me.

    Sincererly,

    TTW

    ( Terrible Tim Witherspoon )

although i did laugh at some of the posts here, i have to agree. Though i'll admit sometimes even i get a bit unfriendly with some people, i'd have to improve on that. But overall i agree

    You're right,

I just couldn't help but tag along in Conteh's little joke. I meant no offense to janitor though.
