Japan Needs To Start A Boxing League Similar To PRIDE FC

Sorry you actually need to explain what the hell you're talking about...

The JBC oversee 99% of all professional fights in Japan, the promoters all work together (due to JBC rules). They have a league system, of sorts, in the amateurs. Why have the champions under one banner? At the moment Teiken, Ohashi and Watanabe are doing a damned good job with promoters like Kyoei and Ioka also having notable fighters...

 

Japan needs to release another Playstation in about 6-7 years to keep me happy.

He is talking about the spectacle that Pride FC was in Japan. It was always a huge event with established names, and also had a NYE special card every year. The glory days of Pride FC were definitely something to behold. I miss those days.

Pride FC was more akin to the professional wrestling scene in Japan. I am not sure boxing can be presented in that light, as it is already pretty established in it's own right there.

 

Okay...so...erm...why would they do this? Sorry I'm completely lost as to why you've singled Japan out for this...especially given that the sport there is among the most varied and well run. The way the sport is ran in Japan is amazingly impressive and shows a different culture to the sport than what we see in the West.

 

I agree, problem is pride was fixed after yakuza got their Hands into them, (allegedly) from many, many sources who have said this.

There is truth there. It turned into the collapse of the organization. When Pride FC went against the grain enough times, they lost their Fuji TV deal which ultimately killed them.

 

That is the dumbest **** ever. Japan went through that phase a century ago. ******* jack domestic leagues like the Pride or the UFC who handle roughly 200 fighters are nothing compared to a major world sanctioning body like boxing has governing tens of thousands of boxers. What you are proposing wouldn't be progress. It would be regress.

was there a few worked matches in the early days. possible yes but you could count them on one hand. Pride FC like all japanese MMA came on the back of pro-wrestling.

Pride just like Rings and Pancrase may have had few works but this would be 1% of fights.

Pride FC died because the links with the yakuza were publicly exposed. Had nothing to do with match fixing!

Fuji TV pulled the plug and the sponsors all did the same.

without national TV the company couldnt survive!

 

The Yakuza were not fixing fights. The Yakuza were just the money men who were funneling the profits out of the organisation to Mr X.

Fuji TV knew full well about the shady characters running Pride just once it was exposed they had no choice but to pull the plug.

Unlike pro wrestling where the Yakuza would make money from the house as pro wrestling promoters would have to pay them for the building pride was actually run by the Yakuza.

No way a TV company could stick my a company like that.
