George Foreman on his first and second career, Mike Tyson, Ali and others got title shots without fighting a top contender.


Also being ranked top 10 by a sanctioning body doesnt make you a hypejob.
All kinds of mediocre fighters have been ranked top 10 before, it means nothing nowadays

Yes. Martin. I am aware of the quality of the fighter Martin is, but he is still a former HW World Champion. And anyone who beats Martin for the rest of his career will be a "name" on his resume. Now that the IBF federation has allowed Charles Martin and Vyacheslav Glazkov to fight for the title, that's another matter, a completely different topic, and it's certainly not Jared Anderson's fault. Apart from Martin, Jared Anderson has other names in his resume, and he is only 23 years old.

 

As one of the few people on here pulling for him (and that's tenuous), he ain't top 10. I'm not sure he's even top 15 yet. And the things I hear coming directly from him are very questionable. Someone said he's the next Wilder, and like him or not (and I don't) Wilder has the heart for this sport...........I don't think Anderson does, despite his background.
