Maybe they want to cash Anderson out on a Saudi sponsored card? He had a bunch of legal problems recently, wants to quit boxing soon, showed almost no drive to step on the gas vs Merhy and self proclaims he's crazy and they see the writing on the wall? I'd say there's a chance that's the case, but I tend to think his management have enough confidence in him that he can beat the ever expanding Bakole. I'm looking forward to the fight regardless.

I don't think so. According to Anderson he actually has quite a close relationship with Turki and, as with Belly, Turki apparently has big plans in store for him.

I wouldn't be happy about that if I was Bakole or someone else facing Anderson in Saudi just like I'm not as an Usyk fan about Turki's relationship with Belly. That being said, that doesn't necessarily mean that they won't get a fair shake over there

    Me too

    Well matched fight.

I'll take Anderson. Although he gets hit, he is probably a bit better than his detractors want to think.

Just watched the video. Concur. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but it appears to me that Anderson is more "hype job" than "the goods". The US heavyweight cupboard remains bare.

jared anderson leans away from punches which makes you vulnerable to being knocked out by anyone regardless of their skill level, ill never pick a fighter with a glaring flaw like that. bakole will get him to pull back then step on his foot and knock him out with a right hand

Yeah, if my pick is wrong, then I certainly imagine it going a lot more like what you've described here.

As you and others have mentioned - solid point that the weight can make a difference in this one (and I should have quickly mentioned this in the video). And I agree with Serge that his handspeed still looked good against Takam, but I likewise agree he may want to start trimming down a bit, and I'd assume he would for this fight.

To be honest, as overweight as he was against Takam, I was still rather impressed at how good he looked and more importantly how powerful and effective he was once he got going. I think that version would KO Anderson as well but it's too much of a risk coming in that heavy against a fast skilled guy like Anderson.

I'd say 270 would be a good weight but 260 something would be fine too.

A Bakole weighing around 275 or less hurts the wooden Anderson and drops and stops him convincingly.

However if Bakole comes in at 299lbs as he did in his last fight, then you would favour Anderson to get a hometown decision here. Which given Bakole is immobile at that weight and has limited output, it will not be difficult for the judges to justify giving the American hype job the W.

Neither of these guys is world level though. Bakole because he is 40 now and never going to get a shot at a title (presumably because no promoter can make money from him).

Anderson because he is wooden and cannot take a shot, will be found out in this one or pretty soon. Before he even fights for a title.

I was quite impressed by 300 pounder Bakole's performance against Takam, hurting the teak tough Cameroonian to the body and stopping him faster than anyone. I rank that performance very high historically in the 300+ weight class, it might even be the best performance of anyone in that division even though Bakole was a half a pound under the limit and basically drained.

    He's 31.

Anyway, I've got Bakole. Yeah, weight can be an issue, but you know what else is an issue? Being conditioned to lean back as a defense while flat-footed, like Anderson has been fighting heavyweights smaller than he is. The first not-useless guy he fought with a noticeable size advantage over him (that I can recall, anyway) was Charles Martin, and a barely-motivated, at the end-of-the-road Charles made him look bad. What will Bakole do to him?

Kid better pray he gets a fat, immobile Bakole so the judges can give him a hometown decision.

Bakole and Takam are very close friends. It might be dangerous to read too much into that fight

They know each other but I'm not sure they are very close friends. And they weren't fighting like friends anyway lol, both were throwing bombs and Bakole kept taunting him in the ring. You're not gonna let someone give you brain damage just because you're friends with them.
