Ok, so you're not saying that Boots wouldn't be able to retain his 147 title because of the organization rules, but because he wouldn't physically be able to go back down to 147.

That's a valid point. As for Virgil focusing on Madrimov, I agree and that is a fight he may lose. I may be wrong, but I don't think it was Virgil that called out Boots to begin with.

If Boots was that dead set on unifying at 147 then he might as well not talk big and say that he's up for any fight at 154 because obviously he's not up for it. Wanting to unify is fine, just don't act big about something he's not willing to consider. Heck, not that it was going to happen but it basically proved Boots wouldn't have fought Bud if he decided to say yo Boots I'll fight you at 154 since you talking big, and refused Bud for the third time in his career.

As for Norman, he'll not make more in one fight but probably make more money combined while keeping his cheap "world champion" title until a better cashout chance comes around next year especially if Top Rank is going the Turki/DAZN way too. 1.7mil may be the highest offer he got to date but 2.2mil isn't an outrageous counter given the circumstance and Eddie being cheap and not seeing Boots worth the extra change to make the guy unified.

Ironically I'm pretty sure Eddie's gonna have to pay more to get Stanionis or Barrios to unify with Boots than what would've cost to get Norman given that they are PBC and could just unify among their guys inhouse.

Super Boots should've really jumped at the chance to face Ortiz at 154. That being said, from his perspective these guys wanted nothing to do with him pre-Karen 2 and have only piped up about facing him since seeing him really struggle against Karen.

I can totally understand why Stan didn't appear to be too keen on the match up. I mean the first time they offered it to him he was very inactive and it would've been his first fight in like 18 months or something IIRC and to expect him to fight the boogeyman, in the boogeyman's county, with a home ref and three home judges which is how they do over there, AND whilst coming off a long layoff like that is ridiculous because we already know, and surely he should know too, he would be 5 rounds down on the judge's cards going in

As it is he's only fought once in the last three years or just under

But that being said, Ortiz had his Karen II moment against Bohachuk where he not only arguably lost but did lose in most people's eyes and t no one's surprise the three home judges ever so predictably managed to score it against Bohachuk too, just like they did against Karen and Madrimov respectively recently too, so Super Boots really should've moved up to 154 to face Ortiz, especially given the prestige and the financial compensation he would received for doing so and what with 154 being his actual natural weight class and one he will still be big at. I've always favoured him to win that match up too,

Always thought Stanionis beats him he has a granite chin and a decent workrate, if Ennis got on his bike and picks his shots he wins but he tries to fight on the inside he gets caught standing up straight too many times and oses on points

Ennis DID duck Ortiz Jr and Ennis DID pass on a Crawford fight and Ennis DID pass on Norman Jr over $500k. These are all objective things that happened.

With that being said Ennis is still champion quality and I expect him to unify at 147

I favor Ennis but it won't be a walk in the park and Stanionis is clearly going to be the best fighter that Ennis has faced. I do think Stanionis is at a disadvantage reach, power, and speed wise so he'll have to really work his way to the body to break Ennis down to win. Stylistically you'd have to favor Ennis over the constant come forward style of Stanionis but can't count out his workrate. This is the fight that will give us an idea just how good either of them are.
