If Crawford fought ANYBODY you would think they would whip "Crawford's arse." Admit your bias and get over it
Why do we always want to push guys into fights they are not ready for? Crawford schools this guy and the same guys who are saying he would beat Crawford will be saying he was too green. Let’s see Ennius step up in competition before fitting him for a crown. He’s a very good young guy who is progressing nicely. He’s also still very young and not ready to fight guys like Crawford or Spence. After the Manny fight, the only name I want to hear in the Crawford conversation is Spence. We’ve waited long enough. In the words of an esteemed teleprompter reading, possibly (probably) demented, hair-plugged elderly statesman, “come on, man!”
My bias is due to Crawford's extremely weak resume, and before anyone pulls unified champ out their arses, in a weak division, scrubs have belts. Indongo was pure trash. Postol is probably Crawford's best win and that isn't saying much. Both Ennis, Ortis and also Prograis would smash Crawford's best win. With such a poor resume fans are left with nothing but faith. Sure Crawford is a step up for Ennis, but Ennis is also a step up for Crawford. Ennis would beat the **** out of all of Crawford's opposition, and likely look more impressive doing it.
Right now I'd find it a lot more exciting for Ennis and Ortiz Jr to fight. I've never been able to shake the feeling that Crawford's management has enormous influence in determining who Porter chooses to fight (and I can't be the only one who feels that way) and Pac is probably angling for a fight with Crawford to secure one last payday. Unless of course it's with Spence who wants a career-defining fight at 147 lbs before moving up. How fighting a 42 year-old (however good he used to be) could somehow provide a "career-defining fight" is anyone's guess. Right now, it would be easier to break up freaking OPEC than the cartel that Crawford/Pac/Porter/Spence have created at Welterweight. So Ennis and Ortiz Jr might as well fight each other.
Overated based on what? Beating Garcia, Porter and losing against a legend in a competetive fight. If it wasn't for the knockdown that fight could have very well been a draw. The term overrated is used too loosely now days.
I hope it happens. Put those styles together and there should be fireworks. It could really steal the thunder from Crawford/Porter/Pac/Spence. Maybe enough for them to actually fight one another or the winner of Ennis/Ortiz Jr.
Mikey Garcia was right there why didn't he fight Crawford? You fight whom ever has the belt and you don't get any say in how they got them. Hell PBC/Spence made sure they got Manny out of the way and Ugas holding the belt so they could "pull unified out of their ass" (And they will have to fight Crawford to get the 4th belt) and I don't see you whining about that. Everyone bitched about Crawford being a "weight bully" at 140 and told him to come up to 147 and fight "better competition" he did and then Spence, and Danny Garcia and Manny would not fight him. Crawford will never do enough to satisfy you. So just keep telling everyone that so and so will beat him and Crawford will make you look foolish
Thurman had looked terrible against Josesito Lopez. I figured Pac had a real shot when Josesito started throwing wild shots and Thurman didn't make him pay and seemed unwilling to try.
I don't know if Thurman is overrated - but he seems to have had a short prime. He doesn't seem to be quite the same fighter upon his return from his injuries. Sure Pac is a legend...but he was not far from his 41st birthday when Thurman fought him. That's ancient for a Welterweight; any fighter with a claim to a belt in the division should have been able to beat the brakes off him.
Porter really outboxed thurman on the outside and exposed his in fighting when he had him on the ropes. Thurman was way to straight up and square. I thought porter beat him everywhere the fight went.
Crawford is nothing more than a Black Sturm or Ottke. Well paid but fighting Euro level opposition. None of his last four opponents were one of the 10 best welters. That's a fact, Jack.
