I'm watching Hurd fight Harrison. He's 6ft1 with 77 inch reach. What's he doing at 154? He's got the frame for 160 easy. 160 has so much talent and money. We have GGG, Canelo, Eubank Jr, Charlo! Throw Jacobs in the mix with the other contenders and 160 is now one of the deepest divisions. If Charlo makes P4P that would mean THREE P4P fighters at 160.
I think he will, eventually. But wouldn't give him much of a chance against GGG, Canelo or Jermall after watching him against Harrison.
154 was his quickest route to a title, and he's just started stepping up his level of comp. With his frame, he'll move up before too long. He looked a weight class bigger than Harrison last night.
Harrison as I fully expected exposed his overrated ass in a big way last night, sadly for Tony he's only an 8 round fighter. He should have a stipulation for all of his matches to be 8 rounders, he'd school everyone at JMW easily. I bet he hates the number 9 with a passion. Regardless Hurd is a dead man walking at MW.
Cotto is a pure 154 pounder. As is Lara. Trout. Charlo and Hurd in particular look like HUGE 154s, they have bigger dimensions than most middleweights. Lemiuex, a tough 160 pounder is barely 5 ft 8 with a 70inch reach. Hurd for example is 6ft1 with 77 inch reach. He could easily compete at 168 with those dimensions.
Agree with you on that one. As an example, I could care less if Erisandy Lara ever moves up 160 pounds. If he likes staying at 154 pounds and blowing every fighter out of the water that they put in front of him (Lara is undefeated IMHO) So be it.
cotto was never a pure 154 guy...he was a pure 147 guy that outgrew that to 154 later in his career..understand that u golovkin excuse maker
yep...i agree why dont u look further into the history of this thread.... ggg fans desperately want to act like cotto is some kind of MW...when we all know he never was/is
Yeah but if he's not killing himself to make weight he would be better off at 154. Harrison was outboxing him for a time but he changed the fight by stunning him. Those shots wouldn't have the same effect on a bigger 160lb fighter.
He could even potentially compete at 175 with that frame. He's taller and longer than Stevenson, Kovalev and Beterbiev and even Joe Smith Jr.
