Jarrett Hurd has proven more and accomplished more in 6 months . Than Andrade and the charlos have at 154. He truly is something special
He works 3 minutes of every round, takes a shot well, and has a decent left hook to the body and right uppercut to the face. BUT - he is currently enjoying ridiculous size advantage over opponents. This has enabled him to (just about) crowd out/overwhelm older smaller feather-fisted slowed-down 'boxer' types like Trout and Lara with his slow plodding systematic grinding forward march. But when he faces a more 'physical' younger, stronger guy more like his own size he will be found out. Brutally found out. Enjoy him while you can folks - he will have a short prime......and it will end badly for him.
Name and shame Tell me who is going to do this to Jarrett? I feel like a good laugh. Jarrett has underrated accuracy, he has a massive work rate and great connect %. It's tough going 12 rounds with Jarrett Hurd. Trout isn't even that old and neither is Lara tbf
Actually his accuracy is overrated. He missed waaay to many long punches against the pretty-stationary Lara. Only successful at close range - where he in turn is giving up his natural advantages in height and reach....
For what it's worth, Hurd in an interview once mentioned that he would trade some speed for better accuracy if he could.
Lol... I think I'm going to listen to James from now on. I really didn't think Hurd could pull off that Lara fight.
Working 3 minutes of every round and for 12 rounds is elite level stuff in this era. He'll be a tough out for anybody though against Charlo, I don't think he can take as many free shots as he has been giving up. He has to at least learn to limit the big shots to his dome even though he can take them for a time but he's better than I thought he was.
Inside the ring everything looks like close range for Hurd. Lara was moving he just couldn't get out of the way. If you throw a high number of punches you would expect a lower connect %. Blokes that cherry pick their shots should connect higher but Hurd always finds a way to land. They might not all be clean but they all do damage. Hurd is going to beat down everyone at 154
I like Hurd a lot. But against Lara, even when he was at close range, he didn't seem to find the punches to connect. It's only in the last 4 rds he understood he needed to work on uppercuts, and then it was all she wrote. I think too he beats down everybody at 154.
No, he was just asked what attributes he'd trade if he could. Full link is on the Reddit Jarrett Hurd AMA
You all are just proving my point tbh, how can he have overrated accuracy if no one rates it? You don't beat blokes down by just looking at them. We aren't talking about guys like David Price. These guys Trout and Lara are known to be athletic and have a high level of fitness. Trout was taking over Jermall in the championship rounds.
Accomplished more??? He beat a shot Trout coming off over 1 year of inactivity and after Trout had been through wars with Cotto, Canelo, Lara, and Charlo. I can't give Hurd any credit for this win. Lara wasn't shot, but is 35 years old and is a faded fighter, since his legs aren't weren't they used to be. Hurd earned the win, but against a faded Lara he should've been able to get the knockout. Either Charlo brother would've finished this version of Lara. If Hurd goes on to beat Jermell then he deserves to call himself the best at 154, but Jermall isn't small, shot, old. I see Jermell badly exposing the overrated Hurd.
Of course he has a better resume, hands down Lara is the best win. Trout had never been stopped and arguably beat the better Charlo in his last fight. Trout gave Canelo a damn tough fight and whooped Cotto better than Canelo did Jermell will be a great win and let's not talk him down after the fact. He has been on a tear stone cold knocking guys out. Jermell may have had some close fights on the way up but he's a grown man now and huge for the weight, right in the middle of his prime. Just because he looks like a child next to Jarrett that doesn't mean he ain't a monster @ 154. Jermell can punch as hard as any, his KO ratio is deceiving because he was known as a pure boxer before and now he is letting his hands go he has great pop. Jermell is going to get that business though, Jarrett is just a bit too much for him.
I know that but what have charlos done they havent even unified neither has andrade . So he has accomplished more
