Jarrett Hurd is massively underated and underappreciated. This has everyone as a target . He's got Jacobs, the Charlos , canelo ,GGG and Errol Spence all on his cross chairs.he is really a threat . His accuracy is underestimated. Cotto landed 183/628 (29%) punches total on Trout Canelo landed 124/431 (29%) on Trout . When canelo fought Lara he landed 97/415 (23%) on Lara . Hurd on the other hand landed 265/753 (35) % punches on Trout and stopped him. And on Lara he landed 217/824. (24)%. . By these stats alone he has outworked. Cotto and Canelo both great champions . He has outworked them in there performances against Lara and Trout . Also cotto nor canelo stopped Trout and Jarrett Hurd did stop Trout . And Canelo couldn't drop Lara. . where in areas Hurd did stop Lara
Hurds offense is extremely versatile, he has a lot of weapons. His punches land clean and often and that's because he mixes it up so well, and throws punches from awkward angles. He throws at different speeds, and works the body very well. I think his power is very underrated as well, he rarely sits down on his punches, but when he does they seem to really hurt! Think he quite often gives up a bit of power for speed and accuracy. Speed is probably what he lacks the most tbf, quite lumbering and sluggish at times. I like his tenacity and his ability to fight at all ranges so he's always a threat. Defensively he has a lot to work on. Definitely think he takes a few too many shots at times, but he does roll with the punches well enough.
He's nothing more than a boiled down Super Middleweight Antonio Margarito. When he moves up to his proper divisions MW and SMW up north, he'll suffer a similar fate as Julio Jr.
He's a better fighter than Hurd actually, Margarito could actually work behind a jab and counter punch when he wanted to, something Hurd rarely does. Also Tony's punch selection and use of angles is a little more advanced than Hurd's. That being said, Hurd isn't awful or anything, he's good, its just that his size is just a huge factor with him.
