WBA Super, IBF and IBO Light Middleweight Championship matchup coming this weekend on Fox. Hurd is making his ''homecoming'' against Julian Williams in what is sorta a 4-man 154 pound tourney right now. Should everything fall in order ( Hurd getting the victory against J-Rock and Charlo taking his belt back against Harrison). We will see a fight between Hurd vs Charlo next.

But anyways who are you fellas picking?

Head says Hurd. Heart says J-Rock.

Gun to head. Williams starts off great outboxing Hurd but succumbs to a rally around the 8th-9th round.

Should be a real exciting fight. Neither guy is getting 10 mill + so you can assure they are gonna try to kill each other.
Guys will fight out of character for that big money.
Guys will not make each other look bad.

I like J-Rock, and feel that he has a better chance against Hurd than most other fighters at 154lbs.

But he'll have to walk a tightrope to do it, and Hurd (who I also like) has a way of nudging guys off the ropes and into oblivion as the fight goes on. I think this happens this time, too.

Hurd, close decision in what I think will be a wonderful fight.

I'm leaning J-Rock, his style is all wrong for Hurd, Julian is great at finding holes in his opponents defense, and landing sharp combinations in the heat of the action in between his opponents flurries. Also his defense is solid enough in close to catch or block most shots, and he's deceptively good on the inside. Not to mention heavy handed, he hurt Charlo right before Charlo took him out. Also Hurd's last performance should be taken into consideration, he looked terrible and arguably had lost every round to friggin Welborn, who lucky for him, is a glass cannon, had he not been, Welborn may have stopped him, Hurd was stunned on several occasions, and that's worrying.

Who am I picking? Still undecided. But I'm leaning Hurd by close UD or late stoppage.

Besides the main event. The undercard is pretty solid.

    Matt Korobov vs. Immanuwel Aleem.
Mario Barrios vs Juan Jose Velasco.
    Paulus Ambunda vs Stephen Fulton.
    Alexandru Marin vs Luis Concepcion.

Hurd wasn't a stand out amateur he had to start from the bottom with not much fanfare...
He built his way up by taking tough fight after tough fight where he has been under dog many times...
He is the nicest guy in the sport and he doesn't lie or talk smack...
He didn't talk a big game and go dodging he told everyone he would fight Charlo after fighting 2 right handers....

He has an all action fan friendly style...
He has a great resume considering his experience...
He actually beat blokes to win titles he wasn't handed them and he is already a unified champ...

Why do so many want to see the kid fail?? I actually hate this sport when I see fans criticizing this bloke when he is basically the prototypical type of bloke that most fans claim they want to see!!!

I wasn't impressed with Williams vs. Smith and Gallimore to be honest. Hurd on the other side looked awful vs. Welborn but not sure if it was due to having zero respect for Welborn and his "power" or just having an off night after coming back from an injury. Maybe a mixture. He definitely looked rusty and was quite inactive, ate a lot of shots he shouldn't take vs. a guy like Welborn. If Hurd starts slow like he did vs. Welborn i can see him being 4 or 5 rounds behind after the first half of the fight and then it might get interesting if Williams finds his flow and rythm. Really tough fight to predict. Could go either way depending on which version of Hurd shows up. I am leaning towards Hurd stoppage from behind here. Can see Williams outboxing him but the question is if he can avoid the pressure in the mid late rounds. Hurd was sensational in the end vs. Lara. We should definitely not forget about the fact that Hurd has a lot of stoppages in close fights. Can see the same outcome here.
