the score is 15-4 and fletcher drops the cuban with a rip to the body. The ref puts an 8 count on the cuban and the score goes to 16-4 to the cuban. Please explain.no wonder our guys turn pro. if you're not from a favoured nation you dont get a look in. incredible.

It is joke, did you see the cuban, he just ran.

Any kid with fighting talent should not even bother this rubbish. turn pro ASAP and make some money.

Yeah like Floyd Mayweather runs. Come on now, the aussie lads footwork and left hand just weren't up to scratch, he wasn't fluid enough and he got outboxed plain and simple. When i saw Fletcher in an interview before the games he said 'one punch' can change everything in boxing. In the amateur game you're there to score points, not be a tough guy. That's the problem with the aussie scene, too many 'tough' guys and not enough skill.

Still doesn't explain the point of my post. How do you put your opponent down, he has an 8 count put on him and the point goes to the downed fighter.i wasn't disputing the result ,just the ludicrous scoring system.

Yeah i was replying to the other guy. Mistakes happen and amateur scoring can be dodgy but it was irrelevant in this case.

Just watched the replay and if anyone was unlucky it was the cuban, he was the one who landed the bodyshot hence the point, at the same time Fletcher pushed his head down so he was on his knees and the referee decided to give him an 8 count (not that it means or counts for anything anyway).

Yeah because there was no knockdown :patsch Cuban hits aussie with bodyshot, gets a point for it while aussie pushes cuban down, ref doesn't know whats going on so because cuban is on the ground he gives him an 8 count. An 8 count doesn't give you any points, the only advantage it can give you in am boxing is maybe a psychological advantage.

Not in the amateurs it doesn't. Fletcher had a rough draw and that score was not at all indicative of how good he actually is. He was outboxed a bit by the Cuban but they didn't give Fletcher credit for ****.

I watched the fight last night. The Cuban got a big lead through the first two rounds then seemed to be content with just trying to keep that lead. Fletcher just seemed a little slower and was beaten to the punch too many times.

Yeh the cuban won, but the margin was not a true reflection of the fight at all
