Scott Quigg takes on Jason Booth this weekend for the British Super Bantamweight title and I have to say i'm really surprised at how many people think this will be an easy night for Quigg. I have seen Quigg live at 2 of his last 3 fights and whilst I think he has some tools and is a prospect I think he still has a lot to learn. Whilst his opponents looked quite handy on paper , they really didnt look that handy in the ring, i was a little bit disappointed. I really think this has the potential of a cracking fight and i think its a little too soon for Quigg. I seen Booth recently and he looks in cracking shape. Lets not forget that Booths was in a world title fight a year ago, his last 3 fights have been against 2 world class operators (Molitor and Martinez) as well as a solid British title level operator in Jamie Arthur who is a cracking little fighter. Whilst I would love to see Booth back down at Bantam he still has too much for Quigg, too stylish too classy Booth UD
Tbf Jason did only have 3 weeks prep for Arthur as both men came in to save a show for Maloney. Against Martinez he looked terrible though like he had nothing to give, Hopefully he has one more fight left in him and maybe my worries and writing him off a tad to early. Tbh i'm not fully on the Quigg bandwagon like you said the opposition is rather a padding of his record but he's had 22 fights now it's far from early IMO if he can't beat Booth at tailend of his career then he's not worth the bother tbh. I wonder if he will fight the Gallagher way and press ahead behind a full guard. He looks the part but he will be shown some moves but 2Smooth no doubting that.
Its quite evident that Booth is on the slide from his last two fights as much as i love the lad and he put in a great effort against Molitor in a fight he could have won but its just a shame that I think father time is finally catching up with him would love him to prove me wrong but i think that Quigg is looking quite handy at the moment.
Isn't this what they call a 'crossroads' fight? Sure Booth is on the slide but this is possibly his last chance at a title so he's going to have trained hard and he'll definitely be up for it. Quigg is a talent and is on the up and will be confident. It's got the makings of a great fight.
I like the fact that many people seem to think Quigg will be too fresh and strong. I wouldn't mind seeing what the bookies think of this because if they agree with the majority we might get a really tasty price for a Booth win. When I watched Quigg against Varela I was thinking that anyone with a decent engine who had a bit of slickness in their boxing would beat Quigg and Booth will do this-give Qigg things to think about which he has never had to do before
Booths 11/4 with Betfred and Quigg best priced 1/3 .... the only doubt i have on Booth is fathertime ... Martinez beat him down badly and he looked tired in there. If the Booth who fought Molitor comes to the table that 11/4 is gonna look a massive price come fight time.... I personally think Booth will drift further and 3's could be available come fight night but personally I would take a watching brief for a couple of rounds and assess the fight before backing in play just in case ! ...
Well i was personally thinking anything above 2s was good value so to get close to 3/1 is a massive price in my opinion. Apparently he was in the dressing room in Spain for 5 hours, didnt fight till the early hours of the morning, no excuse he was beaten but Martinez is a bull at Superbantam and for me world class so no disgrace 12 rounds is Booths bread and butter, Quiggs only done it once and he hasn't fought anyone of the same quality as Booth, he's a prospect but he's been well looked after
I think Quigg is potentially alot better then Martinez. He hasn't proved it yet, but this is his chance to back up some of the hype surrounding him. Quigg TKO 10.
i am going with booth body shots quigg lifts his arms up and bends over and leaves his body open which booth will take full advantage off.
