Jason Estrada Calls Em Out!

the hype on arreola reminds me of years ago after clifford ettiene beat lawrence cley bey, same hype on untested fighter, arreola is always overweight just like estrada, i think estrada will make anyone look bad he is so awkward and fights like a fat middleweight

 

Israel Garcia is Arreola's next opponent for Sept 30th, then the plan is to put Arreola on HBO in November, if he gets by Garcia. Read an article on it on some site today, and Boxrec has it listed, as well.

Estrada is a good boxer, as he showed when he beat Whitaker as impressively as he did. He don't seem to have impressive power, but he does seem to have very fast hands and accurate shots and is not afraid to exchange with a big heavy like Whitaker.

 

Its a shame Estrada can't keep that weight off. He seemed to be coming lighter in some of his past fights but now he's going back up again. The bad part is that Estrada has some good qualities. He's well schooled, quick hands, and has the right mentality. He could make some noise if he would simply keep that weight down.

A fight between he and Arreola would be intersting. I think Arreola may be a serious contender in the making but Estrada would be no walk in the park. He matches up well with Arreola, has the better amatuer career, and has probably faced the better pros. I like the fight and would like to see it happen in November, but Estrada needs to come in better shape if he wants to win.

 

Being in the mid/high 230s is better than the 260 or so he was for the Walker fight. But a guy like Arreola is going to push him hard and carrying around too much weight only hurts Estradas chances. I'd like to see him closer to 225- 230 , it could only help his speed, mobility, and stamina. I don't know if HBO would want Estrada for that November date but I'd like to see it happen.
