Jason Estrada will comeback in the game for any title with fight with former 1-st contender in the world Lance Whitaker. Estrada 11-1 (2 KO) will look to win this match with forgetin Lance Whitaker 32-4-1 (27 KO). Whitaker back two months before with wins over Ron Johnson by stopage in the first round. It was three year that he dident fight since he lost from former world champion Sulltan Ibragimov. This fight is good for both of them and we will see how good is for real Estarada and can Whitaker back again like before. This fight will show by ESPN TV. I hope some of guys who will watch this match will give us addres where we can watch in the internet.
Wow!! Whitaker came in at 239!! That's pretty amazing considering that's his career low to this point and he's 35 years old. I don't know what he's got left in the tank but I give him props for coming in in what looks to be outstanding shape. He fough at 260 (according to boxrec) just 6 weeks ago. This could be a very interesting fight.
Yes, I was impressed with what great shape Whitaker was in. However, Estrada just kept beating him to the punch, and outpointing him. Estrada looked pretty good, nothing amazing though. Whitaker didn't do enough work. Estrada showed good speed, good combos, but very little pop in his punches. Whitaker didn't use his height, and just walked right into Estrada's range and covered up while being thrown on. Whitaker did some decent body work with the right to the body, but it never payed off.
Pretty boring fight. Whitaker has no idea how to use his size and doesn't seem to have all that much power either. His days are definately numbered. Estrada seems okay, nothing special, but he could crack the top 20 and perhaps even the top 10. But I don't think he has the power to go beyond that.
Whitaker is incredibly frustrating to watch. How can you be 11 years into your pro career, a huge heavyweight, and have ZERO idea to put any torque into your punches at all. I could teach him in two minutes. It's over for Goofi. I thought Estrada looked decent, on a similar level or just slightly below Eddie Chambers. That might actually be a good fight between two young heavyweights.
Agree. Whitaker will never go any further than he is, and he's even lost ground from where he was a few years ago. Estrada might get into the top twenty or top fifteen, but that's about as far as he'll go. I don't see him beating any top ten fighter. He has next to no power, but is a pretty slick boxer. I'd like to see Estrada fight Eddie Chambers............On seond thought..no, I wouldn't. LOL But it would be a pretty even matchup with both having similar styles..
Estrada doesn't sit on his punches, how can someone have that many fights under their belt, and not know how to sit on a shot? He should have knocked that version of Mount Goofi out last night, but he didn't.
Why doesn't Whitaker use his height to his advantage?? Because he's LIMITED. He has no technique to speak of, is PAINFULLY slow, and pushes his punches - always has. He's even worse now than he used to be.:yep
Whitaker used his jab just a few times in the entire fight and almost every time he did he backed Estrada up and lined him up for a follow-up right hand which he usually missed. I don't know what is so hard about learning to consistently use your jab to back your opponent up, position him for follow up punches and establish your range when you are as tall as Lance is. He just didn't use his natural physical advantages. I know this sounds like a Teddy Atlas lecture but man he could have at least tried to jab and box from distance. Goofi needs to quit. I'm not sure if at this stage he could even outpoint Tye Fields.
