Nistor is backing Solorio into the ropes with his southpaw jab fluttering out at eye level. Solorio ducks and tilts forward, tossing high flurries as he sits his corpulent buttocks on the middle rope. Nistor lands a vicious body hook and Solorio goes down. Solorio beats the count. Nistor again jabs him into the ropes and then muscles him off in a clinch, working the body. Counter right hook lands flush as Solorio is diving in with an overhand right, and Solorio quits, shaking "no" even as he beats the ref's count again, then lurching to grab the rope for support.

How is the sun not set yet in Costa Mesa?? I know they are three hours behind me, but for us it gets dark by about 5pm...the current time in California is 7:24pm.

Ferdinand Kerobyan vs. Azael Rodrigo Cosio Ávila, 8 rounds @ light middleweight

 

Round 1

They swap jabs and Kerobyan tags Cosio with a line drive right on the head, causing him to swivel away with his arms folding up protectively over his jaw, elbows raised to his chest. Kerobyan works his way in, clipping the chin of Cosio with a 1-2 as the Panamanian is off-balance, and scores a flash knockdown. Cosio up and trading jabs, but appears to slip on the canvas once more when Kerobyan swoops in with a stiff double jab on the chin, and down again. Cosio points at the canvas and complains about the slipperiness, but the ref is unsympathetic. Kerobyan jabs at him, staying at mid-range, having remained orthodox the whole round.

Round 2

Kerobyan drills in a 1-2 and Cosio does a face-plant into him on a delayed reaction, taking both of them down. Kerobyan is working the jab into the belly of Cosio while moving clockwise. Another stiff jab knockdown by Kerobyan, but the ref seems to recognize on this one that Cosio's shoes are slipping an exorbitant amount on the canvas and doesn't rule it a KD. A few moments later, another slip to a knee by Cosio, and the ref again clarifies that it wasn't a knockdown. Time in. Kerobyan just keeps hammering the body and head of Cosio, who can barely stay upright due to his malfunctioning footwear. Cosio taking punishment on the ropes and the ref comes in.

KO2!!!

 

Weird fight & stoppage, but Kerobyan looked good.

 

I guess Cosio's team is puzzled, as they've used those shoes before. The material they're made of just happens to not mesh with this particular mat in a way that gains any traction, which left poor Azael basically ice skating in there.
