Quigley wants to fight Canelo. :risas3:

Roberto Diaz (matchmaker for Golden Boy) thinks he can put the loss against Taureano Johnson "in the rearview mirror" within two fights and be world title ready.

    Hard disagree.

Make it another 25 minutes (and counting) between one fight's conclusion and the next one's ring walks. :shakehead:

    Round 1

Marín is backed into a corner as Quigley throws a series of jabs, crosses and hooks to body and head, but Marín is able to soak it up and punch his way out to ring center. Lead hooks by Quigley, and Marín is either absorbing them or swerving to either side to slip them, and countering with high left jabs and big pendulous right uppercuts downstairs. Quigley patiently hanging back, giving Marín room to miss, and lobbing counters in combination, mostly whiffing or hitting arms, but connecting more than Marín is. Quigley's best success is coming with the dash-in left hook lead on Marín's temple. Lunging 1-2 by Marín, dodged by Quigley with both hands by his sides as he retreats with his full upper body leaned backward.

    10-9 Quigley

Andy Lee seems like he's making for as good a coach as he was fighter.

    Round 2

Marín is backed into the ropes as Quigley prods with a jab, and they both load up on wide-swung left hooks. Quigley misses and Marín only grazes the jaw of Quigley but knocks him slightly off-balance. Marín is bashed into the ropes again with a series of straight rights. Quigley headhunting with that heavy right and then whipping left hooks under Marín's elbows and over his knuckle padding to keep him from rolling out the side door. Marín getting lit up but taking it all well, and rallying when Quigley runs low on steam with his own flurries. Quigley with a big combo at the bell.

    10-9 Quigley

    20-18 Quigley

    Round 3

Marín is ducking the Quigley hook and shooting up to full height off bent knees with his own big sweeping hooks. Quigley grazed and backing up nervously. Marín then stands in place and shrugs at Quigley from a couple of meters off, as Quigley has circled more than a pace off. Marín gives him the "come on, puta, let's fight" gesture. Quigley instead dances around pawing with jabs. Marín charges in and gets himself impaled on a 1-2, punched directly on his eyeball, sent hurtling backward, down and out!

    KO3!!!

Right cross square on the retina. That will do it.

Dougie's right, it wasn't all that hard a concussive sort of KO punch; it was all down to where it landed.

Ok do he beat Marin. But realistically, has Quigley got a future?

Eh, no, doesn't have the heart for this game IMO. You could tell even some of Marín's punches were putting him into panic mode, and this was a journeyman coming in on short notice, directly off a brutal loss to Bohachuk. Guy like that offering moderate resistance oughtn't have put someone of Jason's pedigree that "into his own head".

Andy Lee, though, might just have found a bright second future in boxing for himself, as trainer. His technical advice to Quigley was spot-on (you can lead a horse to water..) and I liked his calm demeanor.
