If Chisora won't take the offer, it may be time for Wlad to call up Thompson and Timur Ibragimov. If he can't come to an agreement with either of them, then Gomez and Welliver can be considered.

Gomez would be ok if he had been weighed under 225 in his last fight, but atm he doesn't appear serious.

Arreola would be a better opponent than Gomez. Arreola would turn up to fight

I'd be excited to see Wlad-Tua aswell, just because Wlad would look great in that fight and Tua is still a name

Out of the people apparently willing to fight and available, I'd like to see TT get another shot. TT's getting up there so can't see him being in any way vible for much longer. He at least has fought somewhat credible opposition after wlad (also doubt any hw's better than his opposition wanted a high risk/low reward tt fight) and at least provided some moments vs Wlad. Obviously i'd rather see Solis or Haye get the fight and maybe 1 of the even more untested younger guys like Boystov, but doubt that's gonna happen. Forget JCG, he looked shot vs Vitaly 2 years ago and as pointed out, hasn't fought anybody to dispell that since. Wlad could also consider taking time off (or go into semi retirement) b/c there's really not much out there and why risk taking damage prior to a real HW fight being set up

    tony thompson?
    come on man
since wlad he beat some no name
win over chazz witherspoon who hasnt beaten anyone in the top 30
and a pathetic owen beck who is ranked around 215th in the world

maybe if thomson and gomez fought each other the winner maybe could fight him...

thats the prob...everyone wants to fight **** fights, against nobodies and think cause they won 3 in a row vs garbage, they get a shot at the champ.... :-(

Wlad-Gomez has the potential to be as boring as Wlad-Sultan was. This fight would simply stink and be a one-sided beating delivered by Wlad. This fight has little appeal but I think I'd take it over the Chisora fight. Gomez from a few years ago would have made for an interesting fight but not now. He's clearly declining and since his lopsided loss to Vitali his weight has only gotten worse.

I hear u about **** division and guys like jcg and briggs wanting title shots off of **** resumes. There's apparently not much out there for Wlad's next fight. If I were Wlad, maybe take some time off. But, if u wanna fight, I think Thompson might be the best choice at least IMO. TT at least made wlad work and had some good moments and fought wlad (as opposed to the pleothora of short average HW's like chag, ibrag, peter etc etc who ate shots from long range all night). TT is not like JCG as JCG strikes me as content fighting utterly **** comp then trying to get an undeserved shot. TT at least fought Chazz (who has looked decent at times despite no signature wins and is still fairly young and presumably hungry) and at least a former somewhat name in Beck.

That said, there may be no one deserving of a shot that wants to fight. Thats fine. All I'm saying is i wouldn't mind seeing TT/wlad again if wlad can't find a real credible opponent, maybe TT can get lucky and at least do as well as last time.

so out of the list of fighters that would gain wlad some credit are

valuev, solis, povetkin, haye, adamek, vitali, arreola

out of the ones that want to fight him are

    gomez, toney, thompson

out of the ones that wladimir has offered to fight are

    tua, mormeck, chisora.

is it really gettin that bad that gomez could well be the best available option?

    obviously vitali is out
    solis is fighting austin
povetkin, adamek and haye dont want to know
    what about valuev and arreola?

Good fight, exactly what Wlad is searching for, Mormeck, Gomez, maybe he will avenge his lost to Sanders next. This will cement the his GOAT status.

Valuev is having surgery and is totally shot anyway.

Arreola would be preferable to any of the previously mentioned candidates but he hurt himself pretty bad against Quezada and recently had surgery on his hands as I understand it.

you have a source for these two having surgery?

valuev would be good because he is the only fighter that wlad would have to change styles for.

Arreola hasn't earned a shot either and has yet to beat a top 25 hw. Plus he has never gotten in shape ever for any fight, so i don't know why he should be ahead of a few even if healthy

Ok I don´t want to praise Gomez too much but his challenge is a good thing because there are very few good challenges left for Wlad in December. At least Gomez is a former CW world champion, a former HW title challenger and has some good wins over Oliver McCall, Sinan Samil Sam and a few other fringe contenders. Would he be a worse fight than a rematch with Tony Thompson? I´m not sure. He certainly wouldn´t be worse than Chauncy Welliver or some of the other fighters being mentioned for this fight.

**Valuev's surgery is old news ... from Dan Rafael, "The former titleholder couldn't come to terms for a fight with Vitali Klitschko, so he's taking time off to have surgery on his left shoulder and right wrist to clean up some nagging injuries. He'll be out of action for several months." .. check ESPN.com look under rankings

and Solis can't fight Wlad because I believe he's taking on Ray Austin in November

as for Adamek he's fighting Maddalone on PPV in December, and Haye has the Audrey Harrison fight

so who does that realistically leave?

Vitali thrashed Gomez, Wlad shouldn't bother, and Toney would rather talk about the Klitschko's than fight them so that rules him out
