Mind games. Maciel delaying his walkout to make Ríos wait in the ring while the fans chant for him, until the first chords of a thrash metal song I really ought to recognize kick in. (drawing a blank...also difficult to hear it over the crowd)

 

Chino throwing flower petals at the crowd? This isn't a rustic gay wedding, man, you're promoting a fight.

 

Round 1

Ríos is hit perhaps south of the border. Point deducted from Maciel already, no warning. Rabbit punch by Ríos, and he's warned sternly. This ref isn't ****ing around tonight. A bit of sluggin gin the middle of the ring, hard body shots exchanged. Ríos is having NONE of it, turning his back on Maciel and seeking out the shelter of the ropes, melting into them and letting Maciel smother his own work coming in, until tied up and neutralized before the break. Lots of clinching from Ríos. Maciel carrying him across the ring until the ref splits them. Jab between the guard by Ríos. Triple jab by Maciel pecking his way in, and overhand right landing just behind the ear.

9-9 (10-9 Maciel base score before the point deduction)

edit: the point deduction was for a flagrant Maciel foul shown on replay that I missed live, he KARATE CHOPPED Ríos in his throat on the break. Wow. That was super dirty. Very deserved immediate penalty.
