Cobrita has no business losing so much as one minute of a round here.

Actually, it shouldn't even last much longer than a minute if he wants to match Casimero and find anything to be proud of in this performance.

    Round 1

Fuentes is rushing out to meet Mendoza in the middle of the ring but quickly retreating from the first right jab Mendoza throws. Mendoza is ducking and rolling in as Fuentes slaps at his sides with left hooks. They slam together in a clinch. Heavy right hook on the body by Mendoza. Big lefts upstairs by Mendoza, rocking Fuentes repeatedly as he moves back in a straight line and continues taking them. Fuentes falls in and ties up. Low blow right uppercut on the groin by Fuentes, unseen by the ref. Lead rights and left hooks at mid-range by Fuentes. Mendoza bows forward, covered up tightly, and works uppercuts on the body. HUGE right hook on the side by Mendoza. Fuentes flurries into Mendoza's chest and backs up. Flush left hand lead by Mendoza. Fuentes' shoes are untied. He is sent to his corner to have them retied. Time in. Fuentes is putting his left arm out straight, inclined, wiping away Mendoza's right jab and buying himself entry to flop in on Mendoza and tie him up. Right hook and HARD left hand by Mendoza. Fuentes is hurt again, flopping in and tying up again. Left hooks and short rights pumped out by Fuentes on the inside, sloppy, missing as he backs up.

    10-9 Mendoza

    Round 2

Fuentes is backing away from the straight left of Mendoza and then moving instinctively to his own left but just strengthening the right hook on the body of Mendoza, lying in wait after yanking back his left glove. Mendoza is snapping Fuentes' head back with right jabs. Left hand by Mendoza. Fuentes rocked. Right hook, another left. Fuentes' curly locks are flapping all over the place, getting in his face, obscuring his vision as more shots come in. Fuentes has a bloody nose. Big left by Mendoza. Fuentes down to a knee trying to clinch and getting clubbed. Ruled a knockdown, given a count. Right upper-hook by Mendoza tripled up to head and body, pushing Fuentes into the ropes. Fuentes desperately flurries jumping in but Mendoza ignores his punches and lands a right hook. Fuentes is walked across the ring and nailed to the canvas with a series of left hands between the wrists and right upper-hooks on the ribs and throat.

    TKO2!!

Adequate tune-up for more serious challenges. He's fighting Melindo in March, so I'll cut Cobrita a little bit of slack for taking on a no-hoper.

...wouldn't by any chance be Rodriguez vs. Torres, would it? I am now invested having switched over to UniMas, but that would be the one bout left on the card in Tijuana maybe tempting enough to switch back for.

    It would indeed.

Rodriguez wins the first round with a steady body attack. Torres stands off and works off the jab, but Dragoncito lands the cleaner stuff.

Round 2: Rodriguez walks down Torres, backing him to the ropes and working the left hook up and down. Torres fires back, landing a couple of uppercuts but the hooks he takes in return land with more force and more frequency.

Missed the third round, but the 4th round followed the same pattern as the first two. M-Rod advances and bounces hooks of his foe's head and rib cage. Torres tries to jab and circle but can't keep his foe off of him.

The pressure finally gets to Torres in the fifth, and he takes a count near the end of the round. M-Rod promptly plants a hook into the liver, and Torres crumples to the seat of his pants.

    KO 5!

    "Naucaut-aut-aut!!!"

Dragoncito's first KO since Joyi... (which capped off a streak of four in a row over decent opposition in 2011/12)
