Jay-R Sarin Raquinel vs. Takuya Kogawa, 12 rounds @ flyweight

 

Round 1

Raquinel is charging behind a southpaw jab rapidly backhanded off the front hip, in a sideways gallop like a crab on methamphetamine. Kogawa is turning his left arm over, protecting his chest when Raquinel bowls in the left uppercut downstairs and raising it to cover his face when he spies the frequently telegraphed jab. Wild combos by Raquinel as he rushes in, piecing together heavy underhanded lefts with the jab. Kogawa just paws out jab feints interspersed between his usual elevator route up & down with his left forearm turned horizontally. Kogawa now clinching as Raquinel barrels into him on the ropes. Kogawa is backed across the ring, giving Raquinel a wide berth. Kogawa reaches in with a lead left hook and pushes in a right cross for good measure and clips the reckless Raquinel on the chin, using his own momentum to upend him. Raquinel quickly up to beat the count, was unhurt, just had the rug pulled out from under him so to speak.

Round 2

Raquinel is chasing his prey to each corner by turn, just threatening with the right jab and then slamming in lefts slightly above the belt line. Kogawa is retreating behind a lazy double-jab, rolling his fists over each other in front of his chest, thinking about pulling trigger on the right hand but never setting his feet to actually do so. Raquinel is pattering down on the high guard with the right jab and cranking in those skeeball lefts downstairs. Raquinel is reaching with the left uppercut now after pressing the knuckles of his right glove against those of Kogawa's left to steady himself - but just grazing the armpit or whiffing outright. They clinch violently by the ropes and both hack down with their rear arms, Kogawa partially connecting with the right and Raquinel with the left.

Round 3

Raquinel is warily jerking the reins on the final step as he marches Kogawa repeatedly from one set of ropes to another, then sways backward as Kogawa lurches at him with a high-reaching double or triple-jab. Kogawa is skipping laterally on his toes now, back arched, never letting Raquinel fix his aim with those left-handed body shots. A few are still making glancing contact anyway. Kogawa torpedoing some rights as he rides the dial, but not much getting through cleanly.

Round 4

Raquinel is slashing at Kogawa's face with the right hook and then slamming down with a long lashing left while pursuing him in straight lines crisscrossing the ring. Kogawa is caught by a few right jabs on the kisser, making him flinch as he backpedals although he still continues to create openings for Raquinel by flicking out the left jab as he goes. (and very occasionally, teardrops in a right)

Round 5

Raquinel is flying across the ring diagonally at Kogawa with superman left hand leads now. Kogawa is rolling his neck & shoulders to either side while squatting low in attempts to duck those lefts & slip the Filipino southpaw's busy jab, and popping in rights on the stomach when he can. Raquinel starting to ratchet up the pressure. Kogawa raising his game (and work rate) as well but looking uncomfortable.

Round 6

Raquinel is starting to home in on Kogawa's face with the right jab, no matter what his altitude or ring position, inert or mobile. Raquinel lining him up with it, waiting until he scores it twice in a row to know his man is dead to rights, and then sending a powerful left cross down the ice luge. Kogawa is jogging away, hopping in place, sucking wind, still half-heartedly swatting a few defensive left jabs outward.
