    A few quotes from the Scene;

    "According to WBC featherweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon, he will defend his championship against top challenger Jayson Velez of Puerto Rico on March 9th."

    As a Puerto Rican, I was impressed by his win over Sanchez III considering Sanchez was on a knockout streak. In-fact I predicted Sanchez III would win.

    But this is just too early; He needs to fight against a few harder punchers first; but it doesn't seem like that's the case.

    De Leon will knock Velez out in 8 rounds in a somewhat competitive fight.

    Now if Velez wins by some miracle; he would definitely become my top PR-ican prospect.

    Thoughts? Too early? Or do you think it's time?

    Velez looks good, but Ponce is a tough costumer. I woudnt rush him into PDL,no yet.

    Hell, Tito fought Cortes when he was still in diapers so this isn't out of the ordinary. Look, I understand that Dulorme-Abregu is still fresh in everyone's minds but, after thinking about it, this is the only foolproof way to build a star. Due to competition, networks(HBO/Showtime) won't approve one-sided matchups between unknowns and tv exposure is the only way to build a fan base. Also don't forget that he's a Cotto fighter and Cotto's career was managed in a similar manner. To take such a risk, they obviously see something special in Velez and something that can be exploited in Ponce De Leon...
