The WBA announced that they are finally stripping Lamont Roach of his WBA super-featherweight title since he is pursuing a secondary title at 140. Because of this, interim champion Jazza Dickens has been elevated to full champion, and he will hold the full title when he fights Hayato Tsutsumi on the Inoue-Picasso card on December 26th. Pretty crazy that old man Jazza Dickens managed to become a world champion after so many years floating around world level and nearly a decade after getting his jaw broke by Rigo. He's 34. Not exactly old. Anyways good for him. Not like he will keep that title for long. In fact it could be one of the shortest reigns in quite some time - 22 days.
Dickens seems a good bloke, so I don't begrudge him it and it will make a nice story to tell the grandkids that he held a world title (of the email variety mind you, but he doesn't have to tell the grandkids that bit). Having said that, this is a bad look for the WBC; at least declare the title vacant and have Dickens-Tsutsumi be for the vacant title.
