In todays Daily Mirror there is a little snippet : How the funk can this bout decide who the the greatest of our time. RJJ is faded and a shadow of what he ws in his prime. JC must be drinking the same stuff his dad is on if he thinks this bout means anything.
He is just trying to build up the fight and he does have a point. Whoever wins this fight will be by far the best 168 fighter and still a legend. Non of the current contenders can touch either of them and it will be a long time before we see a fighter half as good as them. RJJ is far faded from his old self but he was one of the top 10 fighters of all time in his prime. Calzaghe is a top 10 British ATG. They both deserve respect and should be allowed to blow thier own trumpets.
If you have access to Teletext, you should have read the jokes that were on their sports letters pages with regard Calzaghe According to some....... 'Joe would beat Hagler and Duran on points. Glass jaw Hearns wouldn't last three rounds whilst Leonard would present a very tough test, one I would back Joe to pass' 'Those criticising Calzaghe for his showing against Hopkins need to realise that Joe is in the twilight of his career and fought a lot of great champions in his earlier career' Now - I like Joe a lot, but these jokers clearly don't know their boxing :deal
I'm going over to watch the fight but that to me is a pile of old dung. This doesn't decide the greatest fighter of their era by a long shot. I appreciate he's hyping the fight so I'll leave that comment for what it is.
There certainly are, in their droves. People on these boards forget that. You can't blame Joe Public for not being an expert, it's not an easy sport to follow.
who Ever Wins Will Look Good In The History Books In 50 Years Time. People Will Look Back And Say' Oh He Must Be Great He Beat Jones Jr And Retired Undefeated.' Same Goes For Jones Except The Undefeated Part.
But if he wins will he retire? That pot of money will always be there and with Bhop back with a vengance and calling him out (not that he needs the dosh - just to set his record straight!) who knows? Surprised Oscar doesn't fancy six-months on the Mars Bars and Guiness before taking a shot at him. This is where it all starts to get silly. On a serious note though, Pavlik piles on the beef (well hardly) and looks feckin shocking against an older man. Strange sport indeed...
Calzaghe is a joke. Jones is shot to ****. If Jones can somehow get back 5% of what he once had, he should win easily.
