A friend of mine claimed he saw this footage and is the reason he bet the farm on Oscar to beat Chavez. He used to own a bar in East LA called the Bee Hive and he was a reporter for a short lived Spanish boxing Magazine called Puro Boxeo.
That Bar sounds familiar what street was it on? Use to be in East Los alot and grew up in nearby Rosemead. Stay in West Covina now.
It was on Whittier Blvd a few blocks east of Atlantic. My family owned a pool hall on Whittier Atlantic in East LA.
Yey im very familiar with the area i used to hang out at that club Tequilas back in the days right there off of Atlantic and ?,right by you. Anyways use to live right by there next to Belvedere Park and East La college on Woods. Is your place still there?
It is there but we sold it...ironically it was next to Oscar De La Hoya's Charter School and the B of A on Atlantic that used to be managed by Malignaggi's favorite judge Raul Caez
I cashed my check at that Bank of America before the one with the Bullet proof windows Never knew Caiz was from the area. I was offered a job at the Social Services down the street when i used to work for LA county.
Its a small world Tequila's used to be called Mikes Saloon... Mike was a friend of my fathers as was the owner of Pacheco's latin strip. One more bit remember Chito's Stereos ... I got free Mojado Brothers T-Shirts from them when they Sponsored Jorge Paez. They told me that Jorge talked a big game then made an about face saying Oscar was going to be tough. Some say he took a dive against Oscar.
Yey that Club use to be happening in the mid to late 90s, I never went there when it was Mikes Saloon. Im guessing you went to Garfield if you are from that area? Yey i went to see the Paez vs Delahoya fight at the MGM one of the first fights there. Prince Charles Williams vs James Toney were on the undercard and Toney was bitching why he was on the undercard of this wet behind the ears kid Delahoya Paez went down and out on a Delayed reaction but i think it was legit Delahoya was a big bomber at 135 and he looked twice as big as Paez. I remember winning a bet with my friends dad on that fight he was one of those Old School Mexican fans that never believed in Oscar until way later.
I am from Hacienda Heights ...born in East LA though. BIG SGV My families pool hall came out on the Boulevard Nights movie
No kidding this is a small world i lived in those Condo/apartments next to Wilson Hs in Hac hts right of the 60 fwy. My Co-madre and her dad were also had background parts in that movie, as did a friend of the familys Low Rider. Got lots of family who grew up in East Los, put as you can see on my Avi im from BIG SGV too. Im right up the street from you in West Covina now.
