i know, but styles make fights and castillo had a perfect style for floyd.....castillo is cut from the same cloth as chavez, but chavez was on another whole different level..... pretty boy aint whitaker and he sure as hell aint meldrick....meldrick through punches in bunches with power behind it, sort of like mosley.....and sweat pea was a offensive and defensive genious, pretty boy is just good at it, but he aint no genious...... AND PLEASE, dont ever compare a prime castillo with hatton....2 totally different styles of fighting HATTON IS A BRAWLER, CASTILLO IS A PRESSURE FIGHTER...:deal
Roger was also willing to fight much more than his smoking nephew. Chavez much more precise well placed punches would force mayweather to fight. Plus Roger Mayweathers right hand was one of the best in the buisness at the time, probably right behind Hearns at the time. Rogers boxing ability wasnt as efective as Floyds but Floyd aint got the right hand Roger had.
Excellent post! The truth is PBF is the best fighter of this decade and will never get the credit he really deserves especially from haters until he's long retired. The Jesus Chavez fight was a just a small sample of PBF's greatness it showed you how versatile PBF could be. He had a brilliant gameplan in that fight and anyone who actually watched the fight saw the punishment he was unleashing on Chavez and that's why his corner stopped it.
What you fail to realize is that PBF 130-140 threw alot more punches he threw more combos than he did at 147 & 154. Aginst JCC it would be no different with PBF beating Chavez to the punch countering him and getting out with Chavez following him around the ring sometimes cutting it off because he could cut off a ring but it still wouldn't be enough. He's not going to catch PBF with a big punches like he did Taylor because he's not stationary like Taylor and he has much better defense. I'll always say Taylor's Philly fighter mentality got the best of him in that fight. PBF by being a smarter fighter wouldn't fight that fight and that would be the difference.
listen man, how can you say floyd dominated castillo in the rematch ??? have you even seen the fight ??? and to say castillo barely landed on floyd in the first fight is bull****, check the stats bro, after about the 4th or 5th round, castillo outlanded floyd in every single round.... not only did he beat him with punches on the stats, he was also in control of the ring....prettyboy went wherever castillo wanted him to, and after that, castillo would tee off on him against the ropes..... seriously man, to say floyd beat him in that first fight (especially with castillo being the champ and should've gotten the close rounds) really bobbles my ****en mind...... but whatever, to each their own and really, what makes you think floyd will change his style for chavez......floyd only has one style !
and many people forget that chavez was also a master boxer, not a quick one, but an all around better fighter than floyd......floyd gets by with alot of natural abilities, but chavez was a true son of the sport....he would break floyd down by hitting anything in site....elbows, shoulders, ribs etc etc......
PBF/Chavez was a simple case of a much smaller fighter losing the bigger more talented fighter. No great accomplishment considering that Morales came up 2 divisions and also beat Chavez(no disrespect to Chavez)! But of course I expect you to think that's part of what made FLoyd the greates fighter who ever lived!
:huh :huh you really see a pure boxer in floyd....a pure boxer to me is someone like JMM, or RICARDO LOPEZ as of late..... the only things i see that floyd has over chavez is speed and a little better in the defense dept. chavez had good def, but relied too much on his chin.....but the man was truly a master :bbb
Floyds was a bad ass Boxer when he fought , definitley one of the best of the era but He is going to be remembered like fighters as Marciano and Roy Jones jr.
