after i saw the documentary about it and watched the fight, that was the worst stoppage ever i mean he had won every round and even though he did get ktfo at the last second,he was able to stand up and he could've made it the last 3 seconds to win the fight. He lost everything from that fight but he should've at least got his victory!! check out the documentary called "legendary nights the tale of chavez-taylor"

Sounds to me like you've only seen the documentary and not the actual fight.

Taylor did not win "every round" , but they added that for dramatic effect. He was far ahead of course, but Chavez was coming on strong and landed hard punches all the way through; look at how busted up Taylor is at the final rounds.

As for the stoppage, the referee asked him TWICE if he was okay, and he got no answer. So, the stoppage was rightful. What was he supposed to do. Say: okay, you're out of it and you're not replying the questions im asking you, but go ahead anyway? Why ask the questions at all if the answers wouldn't matter?

No, considerring that the ref had no idea on the time scale, or did he recive a clear indication that Taylor was fit to continue.

I thought Tua v Rahman 1 was a bad stoppage!

C'mon, man, it was Dickey Steele. Whaddaya expect? Horrendous stoppage due to the caliber of combatants in the ring at the time. They were two finely schooled, upper echelon warriors who fought every second of every round and should have been allowed to see the fight reach its natural conclusion. Someone oughta tell Duva to STFU, too. It's partially his fault but ultimately the onus is upon the referee to make the correct decision in a world championship bout of this magnitude.

Each combatant should have signed a carry-me-out-in-a-pine-box waiver before agreeing to the contest as I'm sure each would have rather had it that way before having the fight stopped on them.

Taylor was a beaten fighter. How much time was left? Who cares but one more punch could have increased the allready serious damage Taylor had taken in this fight. Good stoppage by a very good ref.

The stoppage was absolutely fine. There's no room for sentiment in boxing, and the referee should ALWAYS follow protocol. People should quit whining.

I agree. If there are 5 rounds left or 5 seconds, if the ref doesn't think someone should take another punch he MUST wave it off.
