este guey, Chavez didn't land much compared to Taylor. and I said the times Chavez did land, it was devastating! at the end of the fight Taylor had his orbital bone busted, some ribs fractured, and had drank a pint of his own blood. Go back and read my posts...:good

I thought it was a shitty stoppage and I have never really been able to reconcile my thoughts about Steele since then.

Manfredo vs. Calzaghe was horrible also imo.

Meldrick actually nods to the ref. It is a very slight gesture but definitely there.

Richard Steele was looking straight into his eyes and could see he wasn't all there. Steele knew the beast Chavez was, especially once the "Lion of Culiacan" knew he had a hurt prey. 3 seconds would of been enough time to land a heavy, hurtful last blow.

If Steele would of allowed it to go on and Chavez did land that last shot, the threads we would be repling to would read something like " Steele, what an ******* for not stoping the fight..." or "Steele could of prrevented Taylor from falling into that year coma..."

At the most Chavez won 3 rounds. And yes, Taylor took hellacious shots but he got up and look at :08 seconds Taylor did nod. He was beaten but still able to continue and should've been waved off if had he been put down again. He was a robbed man:-(.

Having your head wobble because you can't control your muscle function and a head nod are 2 completely different things.

If this was the 10 round, instead of the 12th, would anyone complain about the stoppage?

No, and that's how it should be looked at. emotionally you want to view it differently becuae he was only 2-6 seconds from winning a great fight, but the ref is not supposed to take any of that into account.

    It was the right call.

there are two ways to win a fight. either outpoint your oponnent or render him unable to continue. neither takes precedent over the other. although taylor was outpointing chavez, the fight was not over. it was chavez who was able to render taylor unable to continue. inside of the prescribed 12 rounds.

Why would it matter? How much time is left is irrelevant. The only thing that matters to a ref is what kind of shape the fighter is in, and Taylor was in no shape to continue. Bottom line: JCC beat the holy living **** out of Meldrick, and he deserved that victory.

Exactly protect yourself at all times....seems like one more punch could have killed him Steele made a great call.

If he had died afterwards people would have said Steele should have stopped the fight...so either way Steele loses
