Who did Shane beat at lightweight that was even remotely comparable to prime Chavez?

The best fighter he fought he barely beat.

The stoppage was justifiable. It might have been controversial but it was not out and out bull****, like Mosley's second decision over DLH :good

This is a toss up. Shane was very unproven at 135 but his handspeed and sharp hitting would give JCC problems. I do think a peak Oscar would always beat JCC.

    Sweet Scientist,

Not only was Moseley-DLH II a horrible decision, but it should be changed to a NC considering moseley publically admitted to using BALCO at the time. That to me is the sign of a cheater.

Schools Mexicans? the only good Mexican/American fighter that Mosley fought was DLH the first fight was CLOSE (no schooling)and i thought DLH won the rematch not to mention past him prime Vargas gave him hell it was a close fight before the stoppage i belive that a PRIME Vargas the one who fought Ike Quartey,Winky and even Tito would have beaten Mosley.

So Margarito is not a good fighter right? He probably beats chavez if he went up to 147.

By the way i didnt try to be racist with that statement.

Yeah he was good but not as good as DLH or Vargas Margarito has bad defense and slow fighter not to mention the hand wraps are in question so i wouldn't count him but still great win for Mosley.

If Chavez fought the Margarito that Mosley fought (sans loaded gloves) he would have torn him a new *******. Chavez can weigh in 140 and he would still rip that Margarito a new one.

It's funny how Mosley is being made out to be all rejuvenated now after that win. I thought he looked a pale shadow of his former welterweight self. Margarito, of course, looked outright hopeless which made Mosley look better than he currently is.

I agree i think that the Chavez who fought sweet pea would have beaten Margarito even with loaded gloves on and am a fan of Margarito.

then chavez is a even more awesome fighter then i give him credit for, antonio margorito took the best from huge or powerfull welterweights; miguel cotto, paul williams, kermit cintron, antonio diaz and joshua clottey.

I think he'd find himself getting hit flush a lot more times than he did by those other fighters. Maybe he'd still standing at the end of it, but he will be brutally battered one way or another.

No you just overrate the h2h ability of someone like chavez. He never beat someone big as margarito and chavez isnt exactly a one punch ko-artist, margarito would have battered him at welterweight.

Everytime i picture a fight in my head between chavez and mosley its the same result, mosley outworking him with his speed and power, JCC would lose this fight.

There are many factors that come into play in a fight like that and size is just one of them. Magarito-Chavez I mean.

When there is a such large gulf in skill level, versatility, top shelf experience, overall speed and ability..size seems way down the list in important factors that will determine the result of such a fight.

Chavez never beat anybody as big as Margarito, but then again Margarito never beat anyone half as good as Julio Cesar Chavez.

What makes you so sure he batters him at welterweight? He couldn't bloody touch an 8 years past his prime Mosley.

He was getting outboxed against Miguel Cotto who went 11 rounds with him when he doesn't have the defense, chin, stamina or boxing ability of Chavez.

Why shouldn't I be confident that Chavez batters him? Because he beat the "punch is in the mail" Clottey? Because he beat Kermit "I've beat nobody but trust me I'm good" Cintron?
