I don't think there's much difference between Taylor and Mosley's speed, Taylor's is well overrated. But anyway Mosley's shots are actually meaningful unlike Taylor's and would do damage unlike Taylor's. Mosley has a fearsome workrate when some. And yes Mosley at 135 would be a league stronger than Chavez Either way he still has all the same weapons to give Chavez fits
You must base this on Chavez's wins over all those 147lb and 154lb fighters. Margarito is a beast of a 147lber
Because chavez never fought a real welterweight and crushed one. Margarito beat up cotto and tko'd him, so what if he was getting outboxed. There are both world champs, fight between them isnt supposed to end in a blowout. Chavez really isnt a slick boxer like mosley or paul williams anyways, he would get bullied and overpowered. You just need to take your old school glasses off.
Shane has a lot of tools to trouble Chavez, most notably in his speed, (speed is something any fighter looking to give Chavez a serious fight should have) toughness, size, and sharp punching. As is the case with so much of Shane career, a big question is whether he'll use those tools effectively, or just march in and brawl away, because that's just more fun. Also, if the fight takes place at 135, then it would be before Shane started slipping in certain areas, for example Mosley was a vicious body puncher at one point but has mostly let that go and become overly reliant on overhand rights and headhunting. On the other hand though, Shane was majorly draining himself to get down to 135, and is a possible reason for some of his inconsistencies when fighting at lightweight, this could leave him ripe to be taken, and Chavez is a fighter you absolutely have to bring your A-game to fight against. I'd say the odds favor Chavez very slightly, but Mosley's style and physical gifts make an upset likely.
Mosleys propensity to get involved would go hurt him here i think. It'd be a good fight. His sessions with Zack Padilla were a sight to behold. I rate Shane highly ( high as in a lot, not as in Balco ) but JCC at his best was a nightmare. in between rounds of one of his fights, the cameras in his opponents corner and his trainer is rattling off in Spanish, Jim Watt says 'i would like to know what he's saying' Reg Gutteridge replies 'Look out here he comes again', thats what JCC was like , pressure, then more, then more , then more, then more, then crack crack collapse.
Shane only just beat PHILLIP HOLIDAY and laboured to put away an old midget featherweight in JOHN BROWN. Hardly comparable to Chavez struggling but in the end proving himself against a bigger Meldrick Taylor.
In 1995-96 SHane fought at 135 The last time Chavez Made 135 was 1988. So it would be a young experienced Chavez vs a young inexperienced (but skilled) Shane. Easily Chavez would beat him I have seen both of them in person fight at this weight. I would favor Chavez in that he would have worn Shane down.
