Chavez at 135 had much quicker reflexes & was just faster in general than the Chavez who took those punches from Taylor at 140 lbs. JCC gained a little power at 140 but lost a lot of speed. Im suprised JCC didnt stay longer at 135 as he was probably at his peak at that weight, especially the Rosario fight. Julio has a greater legacy at 140 & is arguably the best ever at that weight but physical prime must be the Chavez who beat Rosario at 135 & this version beats Mosely IMO... JC was just a complete machine then.... the best p4p fighter in the world.
I would take a prime Hawk or a prime Zoo over a prime JCC at 140, but I agree that those fights could go either way. I would take a prime Duran and a prime Whitaker over a prime JCC at 135, although I again admit they would be close fights.
Julio Cesar Chavez, he went on a 90 fight undefeated streak. I also think his pressure would eventually get to Shane in the later rounds.
Interesting post. I like how you went on to say it could go either way. I don't think Hawk or I spell it like you, Zoo could have beaten JCC at 140. JCC would have outworked both of them especially Zoo. Yes, I believe Duran and Whitaker would have beaten JCC at 135. Duran and Whitaker owned the 135 division. JCC was not at 135 for very long and his best win was over Rosario. Again, Mosley would have beaten Rosario at 135. JCC owned the 140 division and til this day is the best ever that fought at that division.
Yes, but he fought alot of taxi drivers inbetween good fighters. These are Haugen's exact words then he got the **** kicked out of him by JCC. No hate and he just kept himself sharp by fighting every two months.
Chavez. Mosley would want to trade but JCC was also a monster at 135. Chavez had a better beard than Mosley i think. Chavez hit harder. Stamina about the same. Mosleys defense is too flawed and he would trade too much. Chavez by late TKO but more than likey a decision. Come on. Mosley is good but not that great. I love Mosley but to say he easily beats Chavez is a big overstatement.
Then you're probably forgetting just how good Duran really was. He's not cosidered one of the greatest fighters who ever lived for no reason. On the best night of each of these guys lives I have Duran over Mosley in a walk. Shane would have his moments but you cannot beat Duran without a willingness to run or tremendous defense, and Mosley had neither.
I don't agree with you as far as Duran. Why do you keep bringing up the No Mas incident? All those 16 defeats you are mentioning has no bearing to his dominance at 135. I like Mosley and I even give him credit for possibly beating Rosario if they had met, but I thought about it a little last night and there was a great chance Mosley would have lost to Rosario never mind Duran. Camacho had great hand speed and Rosario was very in the fight and could have won. So Mosley's speed might not have been a big factor. Power for power, Rosario was one of the biggest punchers ever at 135. Mosley owned the 135 division when he was there, but no one really was there to test him to see how good he really was at that weight. You are pushing it by saying he would beat Duran and maybe make him quit. I watched all of Mosley's fights at 135 like you, but you have to admit that he did not fight any great or very good fighters when he was there. Holiday was beaten by Camacho, Jr., Leija and John John were all done. You are comparing Duran after jumping over 140 to 147 to fight the best at 147. Mosley is no SugarRay.
