Yeah. Overeem was looking to land the one punch all night it seemed like. A little headmovement mixed in with a shot, should have been able to get inside on him. Can't figure out why Dos Santos stopped his combinations and back away, when Overeem covered up agains the Cage.
How is that a shock? Velasquez had already stopped JDS and while he is a glass cannon and deeply flawed (not to mention a cheater), Reem can bang.
IDK. I've thought about this fight many times and I couldn't think of a scenarios where Reem blasted JDS out of there before he himself got taken out. I think JDS at the top of his game is terrible style for Overeem. He looked pretty awful here though. There were plenty of opportunities for him to let his hands go and get Overeem out of there but he was more tentative than i'd ever seen him. I expected an all out war with both guys exchanging bombs early but instead it was a very slow fight with neither guy opening up much at all... Overeem did slightly more in the 1st, and in the 2nd he just said to hell with it when he realized nothing was coming back from JDS and blasted him out of there. I've never seen JDS walk a fellow striker down like that without letting his hands go. Looked to me at least that he's just a shot fighter at this point.
Prime Reem was MAULING people. Besides, Cain got Junior out of there after wearing him down and landing a few hundred blows. Reem legitimately knocked him TFO.
Lee? Glass. Khan? Glass. Wlad? Glass. Three world champs and they've got terrible chins! Aren't you like 40+ years old anyway? Get a life, loser!
You sound a little defensive....could be you know in your heart that most of your rolling around on the ground heroes would get starched if they were forced to stand up and actually take some punches.:nod :yep
Defensive? You are the one who always makes threads about glass-chins. You are the one with the agenda. Face it: Tons of your heroes have glass mandibles.
