There was always a noticeable tendency of Guinn to go into this mode in the ring where he would just languish. Even in his win over Michael Grant, his signature victory at the time, he let Grant off the hook and back into the fight after flooring him a few times. At the time I remember being impressed with Guinn cuz the knockdowns made it an explosive looking performance, however, when I went back and rewatched it I saw a passive tendency in Guinn and understood why Ronnie Shields was so upset. The Duncan Dokiwari fight was a good win for Guinn but the truth is that it was more of a "show" victory than anything as Dokiwari, despite being a former olympian, was just a muscleman who looked more intimidating than he actually was. Guinn outworked him for a points win and that was the last we saw of the Guinn who used to at least try to win. The Harrison victory was simply a matter of two guys doing practically nothing with one doing less than the other. Guinn did some good bodywork in that fight but other than that it was a nondescript affair.

I guess what I'm getting at is that if Bergeron does anything at all (like throwing punches) he should win the fight.

Guinn depresses me. I loved to watch him fight in his early days but he is just so scared to engage in battle. Wasted talent. He couldve been a champion.

He should be able to have some success at world level. I've only seen his fight against Valuev, but he showed excellent counter punching ability and calmness under pressure/fire.

So, his boxing skills seem good.

However, he has a major marketing problem. His style is not exciting (think the late Sultan Ibragimov, much on the retreat while scoring points here and there), he is not charismatic and basically has very little to offer for promotion.

If ever there was a fight that epitomized the term "crossroads fight" that was it. Guinn won it but he didn't answer any questions in the process. It's cool that you got to meet him. He seems like a good guy.

I hated to but I gave up on Guinn several fights ago. He just doesn't seem to have the fire anymore. Too passive and refuses to let his hands go. Unless he is rejuvinated, which I highly doubt, than Bergeron will win.

Please, Please, Please bring back the Bergeron puppet picks, which remain to me the funniest thing ever on ESB.

I like both guys but Guinn needs to retire. He looks like a worn out fighter.

Guinn can hit hard and seems to have a notably solid chin, but God does he just seem to be sleepwalking out there sometimes. The Barrett-Guinn fight was a favourite of mine as a prime example of a crafty vet out-hustling the bright young thing, but that's kind of lost its lustre as so many others have outboxed Guinn since. Barrett took his confidence away and it's never come back.

Bergeron can box a bit. So long as he keeps his head screwed on, he should be able to get a comfortable points decision over Guinn.
