Mormeck dancing circuitously on the outside. Maddalone following rather than cutting the ring off. They trade jabs, Mormeck's lands cleaner. Maddalone tries a sweeping hook as Mormeck circles left, and airmails it. Maddalone now commits to a jab, it gets through a bit, but Vin gets turned by Mormeck every time he tries to jump in behind it with a cross.

Mormeck slowing down a little bit, lets Maddalone get closer and shells up, not as high on the tips of his toes anymore.

This round was far closer than 5 or 6. You could maybe give it to VM.

 

Round 7

More movement from Mormeck. Clubbing right hand for Vinnie, Mormeck responds with a hook. Big combo from Mormeck stops Vinnie in his tracks. Left hook lands for Vinnie. Good body shot for Vinnie and a clubbing right hand. Two consecutive 1,2s for Mormeck. Good combo for Mormeck punctuated with a right hand.

 

They touch gloves to start the eighth. Neither looks very fresh.

A lot of wrestling and open mouth panting. This is like gay softcore porn.

Maddalone starting to muscle Mormeck around in the clinches a bit more.

Both letting their hands go at short range. Mormeck jumps back into his orbit, but no longer as elusive as he was. Maddalone appears to maybe have a cut over his left eye...not sure when that came about or from what.

Mormeck trying to ape Roy Jones Junior now, bouncing on his toes and throwing strafing hooks from outside.

Both throw their hands up victoriously at the end of the round.

Is this only scheduled for 8? Guess so...

Round eight

Good combo for Mormeck. Maddalone smiles and marches forward. More movement by Mormeck, the crowd begins to scream his name. Stiff jab by Mormeck. Two clubbing rights for Vinnie, Mormeck holds on...ref warns Vinnie for rabbit punches. More holding and hitting for Vinnie...good left hook by Mormeck. Mormeck shoe shines and moves away. Mormeck on his toes jabbing, explodes with a lead left hook.

End of fight. I had Mormeck winning most of these rounds, but he didn't look particularly good. He was gassed around the second or third round and his punches weren't very sharp.

if this was 12 rounds JMM would of been ****ed. he was gassing and Vinny was starting to pick up the groove. I thought this was a 12 rounder....

JMM will be nothing in the HW division tho, thats for sure.

Maybe he should fight Jirov for a loser retires match.

 

Well, having missed the first four rounds but assuming they were close to a sweep for the notorious frontrunner in JMM, and having given him two clear out of 5-8, he should take this...

Well, right guy anyway. This doesn't tell us a whole hell of a lot...other than this: if Mormeck's idea is chasing a Haye rematch, it probably ends up looking exactly the same as last time. :yep

 

You have to consider that the guy hasn't fought in over 2 years.

Yeah, even with the HW scene being as shitty as it is, Mormeck would be food for anyone rated in the top ten, that's for sure.

 

Vinny is such a classy guy! You just cant root against him, you just simply cant!

Agree. Maybe the winner can take the Holyfield-Botha winner with similar stakes. We could clear out a good amount of the flotsam and jetsam that way. :yep
