I just can't see Bute not gassing himself if he's able to have success against Pascal.

Could be modern day classic HW fight in the final rounds, if you catch my drift.

...but even if that happens. I just can't see Bute winning it if he ends up gassing, which any number of scenarios indicate he will. But it's not the gassing. It's that he doesn't take punches at all when he does, and particularly in recent form. Pascal is pretty good at eating leather unfazed, I will say, even though I don't view him as an iron chinned god like I have heard some refer to him as.

Another thing: I don't expect Bute to look very strong, physically in clinches or punching power. Just a guess.

I believe I said it wouldn't surprise me at all, not that I outright favoured it. :huh I don't favour anything in this match. None of the outcomes would surprise me in the slightest on this one, mate.

im favoring a bute decision, ud or sd i cant say, but i think bute will show that he is back to where he was before froch, he knows everything is riding on this....the winner will go on to fight better comp and make more $...

pascals last performance against blades ws pretty pathetic...i mean they could have chosen a better opponent, that was worse than sparring, lol..

    Back to what? Fighting no-hopers?

Jean Pascal is by far his biggest test after Carl Froch, one he will fail like he failed against Froch.
Lucian Bute is just a little soft on world level, not saying Jean Pascal is WORLD LEVEL, but he's up there, certainly more seasoned on the world stage than is Lucian Bute.

Pascal to me has an iron chin until he gets exhausted.

Froch teed off at will in the 11th and 12th, where Pascal was reduced to essentially a walking heavy bag after, in contrast, ten highly competitive frames.

Hopkins was arguably deprived of a KD ruling in the championship rounds of their rematch.

Dawson was coming on very strong in the eleventh before the unfortunate headbutt, which honestly did seem to save Pascal's butt allowing him to escape with a TD. (I'm not saying Dawson would've scored the come-from-behind KO he needed in round 12, but he was coming on very strong and Pascal looked to have not much left...)

He gassed visibly down the stretch in Diaconu I, but was fortunate that Diaconu gassed even worse in the increasingly sloppy melee.

Pascal is a fighter with a solid 8-9 rounds in him on a good night; after that he unravels and needs to hope that he a) has banked enough points already, b) can still land a bomb, or c) is the less tired man.

Bute, while his power at light heavyweight is yet to show itself (his re-debut, or first visit to 175 since Handy in 2005, going the distance...with an opponent who not only had been dropped by Sillakh earlier in the year but would just seven months later be KTFO in two minutes by La Bomba...) but I'd wager it's up there with old Hopkins' and perhaps Dawson's, and maybe even Diaconu's. (I won't compare with Froch as Bute obviously hits less hard than him, and because that was at 168 where Pascal may have been a bit weaker and in any event makes it not apples to apples)

I know ever since the Andrade I fiasco, it's hard not to see Bute as having stamina troubles and having the air of always being the one who could be vulnerable late when in with a good puncher - but in all honesty Pascal has just as many troubles with it and could be just as vulnerable if they pass the half-an-hour mark.

Rudel Obreja was talking with a TV negotiating the TV rights for this fight. That's all we know. Rest of it is bull****.
ProTV/Sport.ro shows most of contact sports in Romania so it's the safest thing to say I guess. About anyone can write in Wikipedia.

BTW have you seen what Ciocan said at the end of his last fight ? Some cheap ass, low-character irony towards Bute.

    Pascal by KO.

Bute's confidence is shot and his last fight with Gravech showed it. Pascal, while not a great fighter by any stretch, has world class experience (24 rounds with BHop, Dawson, Froch) and has respectable power. Pascal is going to catch Bute and he will go into survival mode like he did against Froch.

Sure Pascal can run out of gas I just wouldn't count on it as a strategy for Bute to win the fight.
