Pascal himself wrote this for the website so here’s the translation of it

Miranda wanted to chop my head off

I didn't fought my best fight against Omar Pittman in Florida and i don't know why. It was the toughest fight of my career so far and a good test for a fight with Edison Miranda, whom wanted to chop my head off after the fight.

I needed a fight like this to get into major leagues. Pittman showed he was not a bum and that he was there to win. I give him credit because he came back after visiting the canvas in the second but i was feeling like he didn't always wanted to fight. He was often inactive on the ring. In those circumstances it was hard to knock him out.

I was in good shape although i ran out of gas at some points in the fight. I felt my hearth beating faster and faster and i had trouble breathing and I don't know why. I prefer to learn all those thing in victory then in defeat. I won and that’s all matters. I fought a lot in the last six months. I fought 20 rounds in the last 4 weeks and i need to rest a bit for now. I still have a lot of flaws to correct before I become a world champion but I know I have what it takes to become one.

Everything was fine during the first six rounds but in the 7th I received Pittman's thumb in the eye and I was affected by that during two or three rounds. At some points, i was seeing Pittman in triple and i didn't know which one to hit. I used that opportunity to hit me with a couple of hard shots.

I was in trouble but I think I did the right thing because I didn't panic. I kept my concentration and I did what I had to do to finish the round. I learned a lot Friday night because a lot of thing happened to me for the first time of my career. If it happens again, I will know what to do.

My right shoulder was fine but it hurt a bit around the 5th or 6th round but not enough to bother me. If I used my left way more then my right it's maybe because I didn't want to injure my shoulder.
My physical therapist told me my shoulder was fine but not 200%.

Now, I will take the time I
need so my right shoulder doesn't come back to haunt me. I fought 4 times in the last six months. It is very hard .

If the fight wasn't going to be presented on American TV (ESPN), I wouldn't have fought tonight. But it was important for my career to be there. I wanted big networks like HBO and Showtime to see me. They now know who is Jean Pascal even if I didn't fought the best performance of my career. I even think that the people watching it liked the show and that they found the fight exciting.

Columbian fighter Edison Miranda will probably be my next opponent in June at the Uniprix Stadium in Montreal. Everybody saw him knock out David Banks in the third round. During his fight,
I was in interview on TV so I was ringside. I saw everything.

Miranda looked impressive. He made a statement but I am no David Banks. David Banks doesn't have my physical habilities and if Miranda thinks he is going to have an easy night with me he is mistaken. When I will climb on the ring with Miranda,
It will be with the best preparation ever and I will fight the best fight of my life.

After the fight, Miranda said he was going to chop my head off. I stood up and told him we could solve this right now if he wanted. I am not scared of him even if he put Banks out of the ring very fast. I know my value as a fighter and it was important for me to show him that
I am not scared.

With that spectacular KO, he maybe lead the psyschollogical war but he doesn't scare me. I will now let him talk and focus on my training.

I will take a month of vacation. It will be my longest vacation since the beggining of my pro career. My head and by body are tired. This break is going to make me even stronger in my training for the Miranda fight. I need this break to be stronger in June and
I am going to make Québec proud of me.

Quite a mature assessment, in some ways...let's hope Pascal learns from this, matures and realises where he's at, so that he can develop.

Been live to his last two fights and I am obviously not at all impressed. Yes, I keep hearing that is not the real Jean Pascal.... Whatever.

I like Jean as a person. Very nice, very repectable and has a great personality. I just do not see him getting by Edison. To me they are not even in the same league.

Hopefully we will see in June. However, Edison has his eyes on other opponents. I guess it is up to HBO. They will call the next shot.

:good very mature assessment. At least he isn't making excuses for EVERYTHING. He tells the truth that he needs to work on some things. Unfortunately I think Miranda will kill the guy. I wish he could just get some more fights under his belt for this year before he faces a guy like Miranda cause I don't think he is or will be ready in time

I mean, Edison will be avoided like the plague by most of the elites at 168 and Jean Pascal who is a good name is calling him out so i can't see why this fight couldn't happen....

I don't think he will be avoided as much as that. But given the scramble for the dropped belts this year, they'll only fight him next year. In the meantime, there's Pascal and why not...Bika!;)

I agree I wisht that after this performance he could have a few more fights to get ready for a big test. But i feel that at this point his people have mismanaged his career and pushed him to high too fast and Canadian boxing will be the worst for it because a big talent will likely not realize his potential. i only hope that he prepares well and has confidence in himself when he faces Miranda.

Yap, I agree; he has been rushed and mismanaged!:-( But now, it's too late to withdraw if he is not to have his confidence broken...as you say, he needs to prepare as well as possible and take on Miranda the best he can.
