Jean Pascal's future as a cruiserweight?

Recently Jean Pascal just dusted off 1-0 former UFC Light-Heavyweight Steve Bosse and bulked up a bit to do so. Was it just a one off or will he do more?

Pascal wouldn't be the first former SMW-LHW to make the leap to the increasingly glamorous CW division in recent years and while he won't be knocking at the door of the top guys any time soon there's still a few solid and(winnable) fights for him against some rated names.

Fonfara is the most obvious choice and a name I expect him to chase first should he stay at the weight.. Fonfara is also a former LHW and is known in Pascal's neck of the woods due to his fights with Stevenson. Pascal seems to have realized that his time as a top operator is over and is doing his best to maximize the pulling he has with the locals and is chasing freakshow and novelty match ups exclusively... Well Fonfara is a great novelty fight that could easily be sold in his neck of the woods.

A Ward vs Pascal cruiserweight bout would be interesting.

I'd prefer Fonfara. More competitive and likely to be far more exciting to watch.

You mean Pascal vs Fonfara right? Yeah that would be nice. :)

On a sidenote was this a one off thing for Pascal or will he resume his career?

That's my question. I think it came his way and he couldn't turn it down considering it was an easy fight with a good purse. Would he turn down a fight with Fonfara down in Canada? I strongly doubt it... But whether he's officially decided to continue after this I don't know.

Pascal said he wanted to continue... at light heavyweight. He believes he can still win a title, despite already losing twice to Kovalev and Alvarez (not that I think Alvarez beats Kovalev)

He thinks he can beat Bivol (with whom he spared for the Kovalev's fights), Stevenson, and Beterbiev (who was a regular sparing partner too).

He's either crazy or... crazy. The only belt he could win is the IBO, and I'm not sure what happened with the belt. The belt was not on the line for the Kovalev vs Mikhalkin fight, I don't know if Mikhalkin kept it or lost it, if it's vacant or whatever.

    Nil.

It took him 8 rounds to catch a hockey player.

And props to Bosse by the way. He put on a great show.

    Guys, Pascal is damaged goods.
His balance is completely shot to bits. He has taken way too much punishment.

Just look at him, it's clear that something is wrong with him.

If he wants to fight on then fine, but stick to a certain level.

Didn't Bosse fight with an injury to his right arm?

    Kovalev punished him so bad.
I haven't seen such a vicious and purposely prolonged beating in years.

Reminded me of Chavez vs Haugen and Tyson vs Biggs

He's never gonna fully come back from that, not physically and not mentally.
Besides his style is too based on athleticism and his stamina too poor to last long anyway.

He can't beat anyone on top 10.
He could mix it up with the likes of Arslan, Askin, Fonfara and Shumenov though.

Read the post. It's regarding novelty/glamour fights. Not whether he'd be a legitimate contender or not.
